The best one around here is the Little Choo Choo shop in Spencer NC. It is just across the street from the NC Transportation museum (The old Spencer shops of the Southern RR) Some of you may want to visit if you are coming to  the LCCA Red carpet event near Charlotte. Unfortunately  it is a 1 1/2 hour drive for me to get to it.

There are three near enough to me that they are a "convenient" drive.  My favorite is Tom's Train Station in Cary, NC, not because of location, but it's just my favorite store - mostly because of the people there.

But It is the perfect location: in a small mall that is close to me (ten minute drive)  but out of they way (when I go the Tom's, I am going to Tom's, no where else).  I like that a lot.

I always thought that the Train World store in Brooklyn, NY right at the Ditmas Av. Station of the F Line subway train station is a great place for a model train store. Up here in Westchester County, NY is Tom's Trains in Ardsley, NY just off of the Saw Mill River Parkway, Exit 17 Northbound or Southbound and Interstate I-87 (The New York State Thruway) Ardsley exit Northbound only is also easy to get to. Tom's trains has a lot more in trains and etc. in stock then most people think until they see what's there including a big 7 train 3 level operating layout.
