I'm sure there are many items we need or want for our layouts that haven't been made yet in our scale. What "one" item are you needing that hasn't been made? For me, its the Rio Grande Krauss-Moffet.

Um....in my case, the layout.
(Still building)
A Lionel Mi-Jack crane to unload the doublestack trailers. LOCOMOTION
"One" is so confining....I don't even know which to list as "first". A Mckeen car,
two Mack railbuses, an AC and an ACX, an Edwards gas electric, a Unit-Stanley
steam coach, a loco boilered steam coach, of which there were several, the Little
River Logging Co.'s 2-4-4-2, a small two-truck Heisler, kits to build Colorado
Midland and FEC/Great Western side door cabooses (I already have the decals for
these), and......the list goes on.
More table top area.
Two or three bay fire dept. building with opening doors.
A NYC subway.
A 1:43 figure of Ronald Reagan.
A Southern Pacific P-9 4-6-2 Pacific

A layout...
On the layout all the time, I have three things I really want, and probably only room for one at the most, a really nice train station, a bus station, and/or a fire station. I have not decided which I will built.
As for locos and such, the list is long in spite of nine years of trying to shorten it, but at the top are: a Northern Pacific Z-5, and a Union Pacific propane turbine.
The second half of the layout, aka phase two.
Would a sweet looking assistant helper count ??
Any Harry Potter/Hogwarts O scale building...
All physical law in 1:48 and I will be done!
AG.
An accurate SD70MAC - hasnt been made yet except for OMI
... a really nice train station...
This is about where I'm at too, a 115 station(or a clone/reissue/knock-off) will about complete the scene.

I have to agree with the train station, unless one scratchbuilds it, I haven't seen one yet in kit, or ready built that would enhance my layout.
As to Freight Stations, the ones in my area growing up, all looked like the Revell HO Gauge station.
A few excited young children would be nice.

Funding.
The one item I want is two: a model of Reading and Northern 425 (with passenger cars), and a Chestnut Ridge Mack Railbus.
What my layout really needs is to be cleaned and organized lol.
Wabash Blue Bird.
I would like an indexed sliding engine table, made by Ross, or Millhouse, and a sliding
Gantry Crane, coming soon by Lionel!!! Oh, I need a table stretcher for these items.
Happy Railroading....

Please let us all know when you find one of these, Larry. Most of us would be interested.
Since I don't have a layout, I can only say that the item(s) I would most like to see on our club layout are:
1. A diesel servicing/fueling station/factlity
2. A steam engine servicing/sanding/oil filling/coaling facility.
What is a good source for the above? I am not interested in Lionel type oil station with a figure that zipos at lightening speed toward and away from the engine with the push of a button. In fact it does not have to be automated at all. Just contain realistic scale items.
Any leads?
Any pictures of what you have?
Thanks
More room!!
I too am in the just having a layout and more room camps would be nice, but so would a switching tower. Visually I think it would fill in for a train station but with a smaller footprint. And, it fits my prototype yard, too.

Lee, I don't have a lot of room on a 4x8 but you have to look of what you have. If you have considerable amount of passenger cars, the decision would be passenger station. Since I don't really have that many passenger cars and don't really run them, I am thinking of ditching the passenger station for more buildings.
What I REALLY want but will never have, is a Lionel 700E steamer.

Indeed, this could really speed up my expansion project, not to mention being a tremendous help to my train budget which would also help with the expansion!
Hidden Staging.
Don't know. That's why I attend Toy Train Shows.
An Ethanol Plant.
A Spencer Packing Co. reefer.
