Will Lionel Fastrack survive in the sun outside ?

This is just my opinion but my fast track has pitted through the zinc on the rails from being in a basement. I cant imagine good results from being outside in the elements.  Just my thought on it. 

We have used our modular layout in the sun but those are 1 day events. I don't think the rails would tolerate damp/rainy weather.

Tinned or plated track will rust out quickly in damp or salty air.

Atlas nickle silver track with uv safe ties is the best choice.

Stainless Steel track would also work.

Track still has to be cleaned more often as well.

G gauge outdoor modelers often use On-Board Batteries or Live Steam Locos to avoid track cleaning and electrical problems.

Metal track + rain, moisture, humidity = rust and all the pitfalls and problems that accompany it. Better off with stainless steel track, costly in the short term but well worth the initial expense as it's an investment over time.

I doubt the plastic will take much UV either, so it's a bad choice all around.

Think Atlas track, Henning's Trains has a loop of that in front of the store, it's been there for many years and it's still working fine.

I had my fast track in storage for a bit,somehow it managed to get wet,not on all the tracks but enough where I ended up throwing quite a bit of it away.So i would say DON'T USE IT and use something else.

Gargraves SS track with plastic ties should hold up in the conditions you described.

I too like the Gargraves stainless steel track, however I don't like the Gargraves switches, I am using Ross switches now. Gargraves curves are slightly larger then Ross curves; Ross 042 is closer to 042 then Gargraves 042 which closer to 043.
