Wiring RCS switches

Power does NOT travel end to end through Ross switches.  You have to add jumpers wires from end to end. 

Need to know information.  Ross Switch number???, Ross or Gargraves track???

Edit/Add 12:10 PM 12/31/2022.  There is a part of switch wiring called: Power Routing, that logically, powers different sections/dead rails of a switch to aid transition through the switch without stopping.  Ross website details Power routing for switches.

Atlas had done similar switch power routing via their 6924 relay board.  This forum had several threads on the 6924 relay boards.

If you buy a Ross-Ready switch, it's already jumpered.

Whenever I install a Ross switch. I solder a wire to every isolated rail or at least jumper the outside rails to a common feeder. On some of the longer switches. Some of the rails depending on the route thrown. Can have the wheels or center roller pass over it. The #8’s came to mind.  I use Tortoise switch motors and use their built in auxiliary contacts to control a relay. The relay can change the rail to center rail power or outside rail depending on the path chosen. Can’t help you as far as other types of switch motors. Most of the newer engines with 3 or 4 pickup rollers do well.

Can you post the ones you are having issues with. Some of them do require a little more complicated wiring.

Thanks to all who posted suggestions.  I will just make sure there is power at each end of the switches and see if that solves the issue I am having.
