Hey Chicago is a nice town, always room for a container train to park when things get a little confusing at the RR. I say this tread will easily take a few more pages, maybe at least two more.  Give up one more hint Mark, like how , many wheels?  is there a pretty girl in it? Or play hardball and let it drag out... maybe it will reach 16 pages or even twenty.

Does the Morton Salt Factory hold the current record for longest thread ?

If a spur has been built to Cabinet Bob's house could this be the 21st century version of "The Great Train Robbery".  If so, I want the film and book rights.

I t could have been the Great Train Robbery when Mike G. and I were only A few miles from this port last week. I told him to bring a bigger truck, but nooo..... He should have listened to me.. LOL...

I can't say I know enough about railroad operations to make an intelligent comment (I'm sure that there are others on this forum more richly qualified).

Having said that- I am amazed in our 21st century world that a container of merchandise could be diverted in the way described. That specific rail carrier must not be using six sigma principles.

In any event- it will be a pleasure to finally have the 'reveal' of the new product!

Sorry ! Biggest truck I have, still had roo. In the bed of the truck. Just have Mark sent me a note with permission to pick some up at the port and I will!  Lol

Will someone please find Mark and remind him that we are all on his side,  that we know that he knows we have been very patient and that this week has been very stressful to us and that when he provides us a Santa Fe F7 with both legacy and PS3 electronics (and matching caboose)  for less than $200 with an additional 25% off due to our patience  we will totally understand the delay?

Hey Guys,

I thought I’d bring you up to speed with the ongoing saga of our “8/1” O gauge release.

The container came into port at Prince Rupert (British Columbia) last week where it was promptly loaded onto a rail car. Unfortunately, the load had to be placed onto a second rail car because the original car had mechanical issues.

After leaving the port, the load has taken multiple train services and ended up going south through Winnipeg, which is good because the load was heading in the right direction...up until this point at least! However, to make things a little more interesting, the train which was supposed to make it's delivery in Stevens Point (Wisconsin), continued onto Chicago (for whatever reason).

Once the load arrived in Chicago late last week, it was sent back to Eau Claire the following morning.

All this drama provides us with an interesting glimpse into the workings of the real life railroad. We think we are on the home stretch here, so keep an eye out for the announcement within the next couple of days.

Thanks!
Mark the Menards Train Guy

OK, we know that there is only one railroad which goes into PR!

This RR misrouted the car and container.

While we're jonesing for things Santa Fe, could I trouble Mark from Menard's to explain to me again the situation regarding the Santa Fe boxcar.  It seems to be the only item I see on the site that says "sold out" yet also says available in stores.  I checked every store via the website and no one has it in stock.  So is this car available or not, and if so how can I get one?  Thanks!

Not sure sold in stores means any stores have them left being summer and the shelf space used for other seasonal products. I did a quick search using the check availability part of the website and out to over 200 miles from HQ all say "Special Order" for status. My guess is they will re-run them this fall since the demand seems to have been very strong.

BwanaBob,

It's a little convoluted and I apologize about that.

We suspect there are some left over in our stores from last year's Christmas selection. However, all 14 boxcars that were sold in stores were all listed under the same item (SKU# 279-2654). This system worked well for the stores but it makes it difficult to order a specific boxcar from the store. Difficult, but not impossible.

Let me know if you'd like more details. Otherwise, Cabinet Bob's offer is very appealing!

Bob, I know this might sound silly. But you might have to do what I did and call each store your close to to really find out if its there or not. I got lucky and found what I was looking for doing that!
