I have a few O scale 3R/2R steam and Diesel engines that have been in hibernation for a while and they like to be run a bit. I have no layout right now and I hope to build one soon.

Are there any clubs in the San Jose area, California, where I can join and run my locos? Thank you in advance....Happy mother's day to all the good moms out there

There are several clubs and modular groups throughout the SF Bay Area.  Most of them are closer to San Francisco than San Jose.

Here is a list of a few:

Golden Gate Lionel RR Club

Golden State Model RR Mueseum

Golden State Toy Train Operating Society

Pleasanton Model Railroad Club

San Leandro Historical Railway Society

Carquinez Toy Train Operating Museum (CTTOM)

Just Trains, a large train store in Concord, has a link to the website of every club except CTTOM.  I believe their website is: CTTOM.org

I am a member of the San Leandro Historical Railway Society located in San Leandro which is just about 3 miles from the Oakland Airport.

We have 3 displays - HO, O gauge 3-rail, and G gauge.  The G and O gauge displays are outdoors and the layout is called the G&O.

I would be happy to let you run any 3-rail trains that you may have on the G&O.  We run conventional, TMCC/Legacy and DCS.

The link to the club's website is:  SLHRS.org

Probably the nearest 2 rail club to you is the Pleasanton Club.  They have a large very well done 2 rail layout.  I have a friend who is a member who may be able to give you a tour.

Several of the modular clubs also let people run trains on their layouts.  One of them has a semi-permanent layout but I forget which one.

You can contact me by email at:  joe@joebarker.org if you would like to run some trains on the G&O.

The SLHRS is having an open house on the weekend of June 14 & 15.  I am attaching a copy of the show flyer.

Sam,

The GOLDEN GATE LIONEL RAILROAD CLUB has been around for many years. It is a 3 rail modular group that sets up a many shows and events throughout the year. The layout, when set up is 36 feet by 17 feet as I remember. Has 3 loops, lots of great detail, Gargrave track, runs Conventional, TMCC and is in the process of installing DCS as well.

I joined just over a year ago, they guys are great and very helpful. Although the modules are stored in San Mateo, we cover everything from San Jose, San Francisco, Oakland, Concord, and everything in between.

We even put on our own Train Show in San Jose once a year, drawing lots of sellers.

Our web site is: http://www.gglrrc.org/index.htm

Dues are extremely reasonable, $25 a year. We meet once a month at one of our members home in Los Altos. If you want more info, contact me off list: tczephyr@hotmail.com
