Since NS SD60E Honoring First Responders 911 Unit is one of my favorite units, I noticed something about this engine and don't know if I'm the only one noticing it. But does it seem as times going by that the cab part of the engine is starting to lean back? Here's a shared link I'm sharing of someone who uploaded a picture today of 911 and I don't know, but it does look like it's leaning back   https://www.heritageunits.com/Locomotive/Photo/16945      &      this link to this picture shows it more  https://www.heritageunits.com/Locomotive/Photo/16678    But in this picture of NS Honoring Our Veterans SD60E #6920 you can see that the cab is level but 911's is leaning back, from the way it looks   https://www.heritageunits.com/Locomotive/Photo/16784   Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought I would ask, because that looks like it to me. Unless that's normal for these units. But have been wondering for about less then a month now.

Tom,

From the pictures it does look as if the cab is leaning up and backwards. I was thinking it might just be the angle of the camera. Reason, I take quite a few pictures, using multiple brands and different lens's and at times, what I get is not the sames result expected. That's good and bad. My bet, it is an illusion resulting from the paint scheme, location and angle. But, given the fact that these where shot at different times, different locations, and probably different cameras my bet is the paint scheme makes this look like it is tilted.

Only the manufacture knows for sure.

These units were NS in house re-builds using cabs vendor manufactured cabs . I seriously doubt the cab is leaning back. Photo angles can be deceiving. All the photos and you tube I've seen of this unit and other NS rebuilt SD60Ms looked fine.

Ok. Yes your right about the rebuilds from SD60M. So maybe it's the camera angles. Yes some cameras are deceiving, but I thought I would ask. Also your right about not noticing in videos. I just happen to see pictures recently of 911 and thought it was leaning back.

MTH has this engine in the 2016-1 Catalog.  Wander if it will lean, if the real one is.

What do you mean?

Mike's Train House going to import models of the NS rebuilds.  I am just wondering if the cab has the lean, will the model have it.

Now I understand. One thing I remember was when Lionel back in 2000 to 2002 came out with the scale SD80MAC's and SD90MAC's, the middle of the body of the engine rises up along with part of the shell. So maybe might do the same on this model of 911, but will wait and see. But I doubt it.

Tom,

The SD60E NS engines do have a angled windshield. I saw the First Responders engine at Steamtown during Railfest and it definitely did slope in from bottom to top. From what I can tell by looking at the catalogs both Lionel and MTH got it right on their models, if the FR and and the HOV units follow the Heritage units Lionel will be accurate with high gloss paint while MTH has a flatter paint.

The rebuilt SD50 engines have a Admiral Cab whose windshield slopes the opposite way bottom in top out. I think NS calls them SD40E. A retired Naval Admiral came up with the design said that is how the windows on the bridge of an aircraft carrier are angled to cut down on how wet they get during rain storms at sea. I don't know if they work never been on either a aircraft carrier or a SD60E or a SD40E when it was raining.
