Are the First (PS1 ?) Rail King SW9 Switchers Full Scale, Like the Newer Ones?

MTH's 1999 catalog states "Near Scale."  The 2000 catalog says nothing.  Newer  models state "Rail King Scale."

They sure look the same to me online. Anyone have any experiences with them? I would like to buy a SW9 from 1999, but don't want semi-scale.

Jim, I believe the MTH SW8’s/9’s are close, but not true O scale…and that goes for the oldest PS1’s to the newest PS3’s.

Click here to see Beth Marshall’s post from 2021 which speaks to this.  Looks like you even commented in her thread!

With that said, they are close to scale, so maybe it really wouldn’t make a big difference.  My guess is most people wouldn’t know.  Only you can decide how important true scale is for you!
