I did... I ripped out the Atlas piece of junk that never worked right and installed a Ross turntable. Expensive but worth every penny as it works flawlessly and looks gorgeous!

Seriously though, I could never get the rubber band drive of the atlas to stay on I hated it. I have no idea how you a uld possibly make that turntable into a pit type.

I did not make mine into a pit but built up a wall around it to give the appearance of a pit. I'm having trouble figuring out how to post pictures on the Forum and if I can figure it out I'll do so. You probably should replace the rubber band with an O ring. I have the O ring model number from the hardware store at home if you need it. The O ring works very well without slippage. I don't think there is any way to make the Atlas look as good as the true pit models but it has worked well for me for minimal cost.
