Hi Bob, I have an older Lionel F-3 A-B- A set which I painted in NYO&W colors 25 years ago and I have a new F-3 A&B MTH set in O&W colors for diesels. For steam I have to look for a mohawk or something comparable to label and paint. We'll figure it out,
Made it back home to PA over the weekend and found two packages waiting for me…
First up, two beautiful gondolas from the great folks at NJ HiRailers - another entry in their NYNJ waterfront series (got an engine on order from them later this year!!!). These are Premier cars and are nicely detailed. The loads are VERY heavy, but can be easily removed. Since I lack the skills to weather them, I might just replace one with some pipes.
Next, are two cars I ordered from forum sponsor @E-Z Catch Train Shop. Bad influence @bobfett posted (a few pages ago) about a special run of Reading & Northern tank cars. Since the R&N runs through my neighborhood of NE Pennsylvania, and since I had a few of their engines, I HAD to order a pair. UNFORTUNATELY, when I went in to order them, I noticed another special run of NYC jade green hoppers… being an NYC fan, I couldn’t resist. Woe is me 😁😁😁 So I ended up with one of each. These are nicely done Raiking cars - may have to order the 2nd of each (Woe is me 😁😁😁).
Finally, I have to report a new, until now unknown disturbing version of the voices. The big reason I was back home last weekend was because we had tickets to the movie simulcast of the Metropolitan Opera Saturday matinee performance at the Cinemark Theaters which is just off Glenmora Boulevard in Moosic, PA. Just down the road is Grzyboski’s (a place with which I have a passing acquaintance). My car, it seems, hears the voices, and I found myself in their parking lot… A few weeks ago, I had seen a couple of 2-car sets of 21” passenger cars on their website (I really have to stop buying 21” passenger cars) which ran on the PRR as connecting service to other railroad. Since I already have a set of 21” Broadway Limited cars, I remember thinking that a few cars with connecting service to The Chief would be a nice addition to my roster. And so…
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it… beware of your cars!!!

I guess this qualifies as COOL, at least for me. Southern Pacific stuff is not always easy to find in O scale. This K-Line SP Overnight boxcar arrived today in the mail. It was NIB, at least until I took it out of the box and put it on the track.

It would be cool in any gauge. I have seen one of them, and that was custom painted
A pair of RMT tidewater tank cars, a little bit of bayonne rides my rails.
I got a quote back from Tim at Mianne Benchwork today and placed the order for my 4' x 18' layout extension. It should take about 3 weeks. 
I have a LOT of trains and shelving units to move out of the way to make room for the extension.
And, of course I'll be buying some plywood. I don't have a vehicle that can transport 4x8 sheets of plywood; I will have to have it delivered.

A book I have been after a long long time , but usually is found in Europe and costs a bomb ( and postage to Australia is a killer) , but this one came from Aussie ePay , so I had to have it ! First time I have seen it listed locally
The freight between here and Australia is killer. Have a distant (take that both ways) relative in Sydney, and she wanted a book that one of our other relatives had, (family heir loom) The book is still in print, but again a particular possession, and It cost three times it's value to send it to her, Yet the sentimental value made it worth it congrats on your new addition to your library

That is why, not only Model railroaders, but just about everyone needs a pick-up truck. If you know how to attach plywood to benchwork, though, why don't you save a few bucks and build the bench work yourself. Home Depot also rents trucks by the hour. if you pick the right time they will have some kind of discount, and the truck would only be an additional $60.00 for three hours
I bought a MTH SD-24 in Southern. Ran it last night. Simply gorgeous.

I rarely need to haul anything as large as a sheet of plywood. I have a large SUV which can handle long items (10' PVC pipe) but it can't quite handle something 4' wide. For these rare occasions I have the items delivered. Lowes will only charge me $35 to deliver the plywood.
I have built my own benchwork in 2 of the houses that we have lived in. I have a 28' x 28' trainroom in our present home, and I wanted an around the room layout. Also, I wanted 2 levels (O gauge on lower level and G gauge on upper level). I was not interested in tackling such a large project. The Mianne benchwork was a great solution. It took a lot of plywood to cover that benchwork.
I guess we all have different priorities in life and model railroading.

That's a bargain and no risk damaging your SUV. I needed about 400 bricks for a patio expansion recently and the mason yard wanted $200 to deliver. I made 3 trips and got them all to the house as I needed them.
PSJ, Sorry to pry, but what was the weight of those bricks? Still three trips is less the $200. Vince, (pun) intended, any project in evolving O and/or G gauge's is a large project. I'm having a hard time trying to picture what you are doing. My first thought on this writing was shelf work, like that of Trainman Televison's 1/20.2, but then you seem to be talking about some kind of mid-room level. And then, about the SUV, back before I had my pickup I had 77 full size Oldsmobile, wagon, I used mainly for pulling my boat. (better for pulling out of water, because of extra weight on the back wheels) but it had a bed that I did have a four by eight piece of plywood in/on so that I could put a couple of bails of hay on , when taking my buddy's horse to the races. Sorry for teh consternation.
How about a Weaver Morning Hiawatha? This is an add to the afternoon version with the flared tail. I just have got to get the upper track laid to run the sets.

Picked this up at Reningers last weekend for a great price. Ran it around a bit to burn off the old fluid, added Mega Steam and it smokes like a champ.

Thanks for the info. Curious I looked it up, I found none on the online book place. Checked around. Sounds like a good book. Internet searched for fun, lots of high prices and all of a sudden, a used one on the online book place. I wont tell the price, but a burger and fries meal is about right. It's coming book rate, 2 weeks, should be fun.

OK Bob.......how many miles from the mason yard ?
3 trips at $ .85 per mile and the outlandish amount for your hourly rate, comes to what ?
( I was pretty young so I have an excuse .....when I hauled 700 to 800 lbs. of old farmhouse 12"×12" × 4ft foundation stone from my brothers property 60 miles away in my shorty 1992 Dodge Caravan / 3.3 V6..............13 trips. 
Maybe it's wisdom 🤔.......but somehow I feel more intelligent now! !???

Ok Ridicules', but true. Back in the late sixties, my Dad sent me to pick up to the Hardware/Lumber store, twice to pick up six bags of Cement mix, in a 56 Buick sedan. The point is that even then it would have been better to have a pickup,, and it was before vans came into being. And had I shown up for a date in a van. her dad would not leg her go.
@VHubbard at that price its a super bargain! Well done ... Yeah the US does have a few copies floating about , but 99% of sellers don't bother offering International Book Rate so it cost a bomb to ship here 
In most cases more than the cost of the book itself .

Just purchased 47 Plasticville buildings for our seasonal neighborhood train layout. This will be our third year. Our first year had a polar express theme that was featured in CTT magazine and last year it featured Disney Frozen. This year we will try to create a 50’s themed layout featuring Plasticville buildings and Lionel accessories. Here is a picture of the Plasticville pieces we will invorporate

Selling more than I am buying since retiring, but every now and again picking up items from lines in the Northeast. Today I bought from Trainz two Atlas 50' PS-1 boxcars - Maine Central (Atlas 6585-1) and Napierville Junction (Atlas 8863). One was too expensive and the other pretty darn cheap so the purchase balanced out! I don't know anything about Napierville Junction, but I saw reference to Rouses Point, NY online in an article. In the 70's I frequented a great bar with live bands in Rouses Point called the Saxony. Putt-putted over from Vermont on my Honda CB200T and would park next to a lineup of Harley Hogs and Kawasaki Z1000s. Surprised I didn't get the stuffing knocked out of me just for having the gall.

That looks like fun, just started here this year, so i'm going to have to look back at the last two layouts, but can't wait to see how this one turns out. Would love to hear more about Neighborhood layouts, although I don't think it would apply where I live
@pennsyfan As far as I can tell there were no lights on the end of the tail. There appear to be side marker lights. This photo for the Wenona shows a horn on the top slope. Wenona
1935 first two Beaver Tail cars were the Nokomis and Wenonah featured the sloped beaver tail and 2 curved windows. These versions also had the tongue off the end.
1936 - 37ish second pair of Beaver Tails the Omewe and Opeche and featured a change in the tail windows across the back and lost the tongue. There are marker lights on the top sides of these cars. This 1937 version is what Weaver apparently modeled.
1939 saw the Art Deco finned Beaver Tails - Miller, Merrill, Earling, and Mitchell. These appear to have a red marker light built into the top of the fin structure.
The SkyTops eventually replaced these in service.

I recently acquired this Custom Dioramics resin M1934 squad tent off eBay. I'd never seen one before and though I could say I wish I could get more, I only have room for one anyway.
My plan is to mount it on a board with strings to represent the needed ropes and blend in the scenery around it when it's done.
