Just checked the old emails on my iPad and found this info on the 2 cars. They were ordered in April 2022 and delivered a year later…

@Apples55 - Thanks. Tried a Google search without success so created a "Saved search" on the bay and will just wait and see if one ever shows up.

Bought two items at auction that arrived Monday. Neither had boxes.

First up is a 10 car set of the MTH Illinois Central City of Miami passenger train. It originally came as a 5 car set with engine. Posted a video of this running.  Of note are the diaphragms with the added coupling ends. They separate on the 072 curves but are pretty close on straights. I especially like the extended couplers which are missing the button un-coupler but use the plate style between the truck wheels. 

2nd up is what I think are 3rd generation K-Line F units - Milwaukee Road. Of note are the added side mirrors, classification lights and windshield wipers. But what I really like is the closed pilot on the lead A unit.  The purchase came with 2 B units.   The lead pilot is fixed since it does not have a coupler. The following a Unit has a movable pilot but with similar details - cut bars and MU cable.

For reference here is an earlier K-Line version which came out as an A-B-A set - all powered.

This just in from EBay. If anyone is still looking; search M&G Hobbies instead of the K number. I found several items with M&G in the listing.

We saw this car earlier; but I just got mine.
I also just got word that the PRSL sand cars that I have on order will arrive in October.

Do you have a photo of the City of Miami observation car to post? I believe it had an unusual paint design at one time, but I'm not sure.

Another Hudson some how showed up on my layout... This time I found a great local deal on the K-Line 5344 Hudson. This one is conventional with signal sounds. . Gave her a detailing, serviced the engine , and rebuilt the smoke unit. Very nicely detailed, quiet running loco. 

I've been looking for one of these for 2 years. Finally found one in great condition at TRAINZ.COM. It's a Lionmaster version; which I'm limited to because my layout has 054 curve.

Hey Junior, nice find! I have one of these too from the 2008 catalog #4006, still runs great. These may be LionMaster, but they have Legacy Command which is awesome. It's great for us folks with smaller layouts and tighter curves. Enjoy!

Thanks! I'm very happy with it. It runs great. I'm hooked on Whistle Steam. IMHO it's one of the most creative features Lionel came out with.

Local sale you say?  Some guys have all the luck.  So when does that beauty make it's way to Harmon Yards for the "Stump Puller" upgrade?

So here's my latest haul.

The Alaska RFR baggage car is a custom paint that I won on eBay.  I've got the MTH RK Alaska RR passenger set that came with 3 full length vista domes, I added some regular vista domes when I won three more ARR Full dome bodies and put them on ATSF chassis and swapped the roofs.  I figured even though the baggage is from another era I can see one hanging around longer than other passenger cars.

What I couldn't tell from the eBay ad is that this car only had one coupler, as luck would have it, a return trip to NY coincided with the first train show of the season in Lindenhurst.  I was able to pick up the same dummy coupler as the other end and this NYC FDNY Fire Response Unit from the same vendor.  The sound system has been removed so I planned on installing generator or pump but the doors are glued shut so I added some weight for better tracking and buttoned it up.

I found this Centerline track cleaning car in the last row of the show.  It was priced at $40.  I seem to remember these going for much more than that maybe even $100.  The vendor was talking to another person while I was contemplating what to offer him.  I guess he sensed my interest and said $20 takes it so it came home with me.

On the way to the exit I passed a vendor with many sets for sale, but nestled amongst the sets he had some MTH NYC Sub way entrances.  I stopped to look and he said he had Times Square and Yankee Stadium.  These usually fetch close to retail on the secondary market so I asked how much, $10.  Having grown up in the North Bronx and having spent many days on the 4 and the D I had to have a Yankee Stadium entrance.  The last Yankee Stadium entrance he had.

Missing from the photo is a pair of 6-wheel Madison car trucks.  I'm turning a separate sale whistling tender that has donated it's whistle to a starter set 4-4-2 into an auxiliary water tender for my RK N&W Y6b.  Trying to improve my home grown tender I thought of adding ^-Wheel trucks in place of the 4-wheel version.  I came across a pair of Walthers Commonwealth trucks that matched the trucks on the tender, however general consensus thought the trucks looked too big and I even had some recommendations to buy the RK commonwealth trucks from MTH.  I wasn't thrilled about spending another $50  for trucks for a leftover scratchbuild but when I saw the Madison trucks for$6 each I figured I'd give them a shot.

All in all a pretty good day at the show!

It was a great find. It was on eBay for local pickup only. Made an offer and she agreed. A really awesome person to meet too. As far as a trip to Harmon yards, for now I like her how she is. Just between you and I , I'm secretly trying to learn what I can from Pat. I really enjoy doing my own work. It'll take decades to get to these guys level of expertise. But, I do love learning.
