Decided to add to some variety to my trans with these 50' boxcars as these are not "the usual" railroads I always buy.

I love all the graphics & detail on this GTW - someday I'll try and read it all!

Does a new refrigerator count?  My new Frigidaire all about cool.  It cost a bit more than a Premier loco, and isn't as nearly as fun to play with.  

On the other hand, the refrigerator does a much better job of keeping beer cold than any toy train, so it was a necessary expense, my list of locomotives-yet-to-be-bought locomotives notwithstanding.   

This 24" long twin motored monster just arrived. Should provide enough power to pull my McCoy Circus cars.

Last week I ran across a steel caboose in DM&IR paint while visiting a shop over in Arkansas. This put me on a quest. Over the weekend I located a NIB set of ore cars in the harder-to-find oxide red paint (from an outfitter shop in Ely, MN of all places!) to put in front. Now I just need to wait on the new MTH SD40 tunnel motor to put on point and I will have successfully added another 'home state' road to my layout. Maybe I will top it off with a Yellowstone. That would be cool.

A couple of years ago I picked up a Hallmark/Ajin ATSF Drover Car (which I need to get off my caboose and paint). A couple of weeks ago I picked up the companion Mixed Train Caboose. As the need to drover cars declined due to refrigerated trucks and changes in the meatpacking industry, Santa Fe converted the sleeping portions of the drover cars to a baggage area while retaining the passenger capacity for mixed passenger/freight trains.

I need to do a bit of touch up on it, but I got a rare item at a good price so I'm seriously stoked.

My local store got a large lot of Weaver stock - they primarily do post war and tinplate and are out of space - they sold me a 57" Santa Fe Mechanical Reefer - with sound - never opened - for $15.  

Congrats on a major steal. I bid on (and lost big time) one (SP) on eBay a couple of months ago and it went well north of $100 and it wasn't in all that great shape.

Beautiful Bridge.

It has track and a transformer but not quite a train. It is a  19060 American Flyer Stock Car Road Race set manufactured in 1960. It appears to be complete except for a missing manual. Does anyone know where I can get a manual or copy?

Yesterday and today is the Gadsden Museum Toy Train Meet and Show here in Tucson AZ.

I was an early bird yesterday and filled 2 bags. I got all but one item on my list.

Notable deals were: 

3472 milk car in very nice condition $10.00,  6560 crane car ,works perfect, $15.00 and 3 Plasticvlle buildings for $1.00 each.  $60.00 Total.

The summer show is small cause anybody with any sense has left the area.

This showed up today from trainworld

picked up a 2224W this weekend.

I don't recall seeing a 350, not to mention it's matching 350-50 extension for sale.  But then, pickin's is awful slim in these parts.  Missing the controller, which will make for another fun project with the soldering iron.  Just finished doing a controller for a 497...good practice.

The Wabash 2339 was a freebee although I forced the previous owner to take $50 for it and a bunch of misc. PW.

These were a gift. They match perfectly with my MTH NYC PA set. This is an MTH 5 car aluminum NYC passenger set. It consists of a baggage car, 2 coaches, a vista dome, and an observation car.

Well - more Weaver finds for me... 6 beer reefers for $60.

and got this in the mail the other day. right now it's pulling the new to me 2224W. It's a 2055 for a great price, and got a 2065 boiler front from Jim Flynn.

Bought 3 books. Funny thing as all three tie into current threads in 2 Rail

Went shopping today and picked up a nice Marx Commodore Vanderbilt loco, all complete, shows slight wear and runs smooth a silk. No a thing missing on it. Also picked up a Lionel #50 gang car in very good condition, clean, nothing missing-also runs very well. Have another that runs but not as good looking so it goes in to storage for a possible project.

In between other projects I clean, polish and lube one of these PW LL aluminum cars a day.  Ever since getting a pair of 2353's the search was on in hopes of replicating set #2190W in the '53 catalog.  Still searching for a Silver Cloud but picked up a baggage car.

Its nice to have the baggage, but it did not come in the 2190W set. There were two Pullmans, a Vista Dome, and an observation.

Yeah, I'm aware of the baggage car no belonging, C.W.  Not exactly sure when they were introduced, but I see by 1956 they offered the railway express baggage.  As mentioned, I'm still looking for Silver Cloud...the missing coach.

Cleaning was a combination of methods.  While steel wool ( 0000 ) was used to remove light corrosion it doesn't easily reach down into those fine recesses found on the roof and skirts.  I add a bit of Mother's aluminum wheel polish to a fine brass brush and scrub the grooves thoroughly.  You can also add it to the steel wool for overall cleaning and brightening.  Avoid name plates with the steel wool or brush. To finish off I use a micro fiber cloth and vigorously rub off the blackened polish.  The plush side goes deep into the grooves to remove most of the polish...an old toothbrush helps extricate any stubborn polish.  Final buff with another clean cloth and it's done.

Bought a bunch of cool swag from the White Pass & Yukon RR last week when I was there. They sell a really cool baseball cap with the current year on it, but have to buy it on the train itself, they won't sell you one otherwise.

Went to the gift shop afterward and had warned my wife that I might go nuts (didn't buy much else at the other places our cruise ship stopped at) but I only bought less than $60 total. Bought a t-shirt, some pins and patches and a book. My wife didn't even blink and agreed later that I was pretty sane with my purchases.

I made my semi annual visit to Trainland yesterday and picked up a DCS system, a bottle of JT Megasteam Hot Chocolate smoke fluid, and a Railking NYC Dreyfuss Hudson. I tested the loco on conventional last night and it looks, runs, smokes and sounds great. I will be setting up the DCS this evening. I'm hoping the scented smoke fluid is pleasant but doesn't give me an irresistable desire for hot cocoa.

   Just recently I picked up a P2 Pittsburgh, Pa Street Car from one of our OGR Forum members, I have been trying to get my hands on one for quite a long time.  My buddy Frank was ask to do the announcements for each of the actual stops for this particular MTH P2 Street Car.  I don't have a picture to post right now, when I pick her up I will take some photo's and post them.
