Thanks guys...I have modified  several steamers to more closely resemble  certain prototypes.  The Williams engines (4-6-2, and 4-6-0)  are great starting points.  The "part sources" for this engine is nothing special....brass tube for air tank on pilot, plastic ladder on side of tender, wire for front hand-rails,  Lionel bell (moved), and plastic scraps for front # boards.  I chose the WBB ATSF pacific,  as the wheel sides were already painted white.   It isn't exact, but close enough for me.   Try it!!!

I painted both sides of the tender gloss black for the decals. Decals work best on gloss, then you top-coat with clear flat.  The right side of the tender (which is not in the pix) also has a ladder added near the front, as the real CN 5607 had.   For the engine, I just painted the cab sides the gloss black, then added decals.  Send pix when you're done!    John A

 

These former K-line locos are quite nice, even if they are 1:58 instead of 1:48. I have experience with them and they are - at least my K-line version - well-geared (not fast) and run smoothly. The K-lines did have die-cast tenders and 6-wheel trucks, and I think the Wbb have plastic tenders, but they apparently retain most of the K-line goodness. I put a DC Commander (no cruise) in mine - low-geared enough to not need the cruise.

They are decent scale (1:58) models of a USRA Pacific.
