I've got a MTH RK Mohawk that I need to decal. I know many have said Tamiya spray cans have the best nozzle for hobby work but with no local hobby shops around Tamiya is not an option. Which is better Krylon matte clear or Rustoleum? Or should I try Michaels for Testors Dullcoat spray can?

I dont like the home depot stuff. The particles are too big and it dries grainy.

Alternatively, I would vote for testors from michaels. Whatever you do.... use the same brand of gloss under the decals and dull over the top. Getting a finish reaction after you're done and happy with it is no fun.
What boilermaker said matches my best results. I bought a 3or 4can pack of testors recently on line from hobby lobby.

Absent a few brands of paint, like trucolor which dries glossy and decal ready, if you want the decal edges to be invisible, you need to gloss coat the item before you decal it so you have a smooth surface to decal over. If you use Brand A gloss coat, then decals, then dullcote it with brand B, by the time you find out they're chemically incompatible, you've ruined the piece.
Dullcote is my go-to flat overspray. I have run into compatibility problems with hardware store paints back in my "flat is flat" days. The Testors Dullcote nozzles are fine.
