I was over running trains at my friends house today.we were using 2 dcs remotes in the all mode.he had 6 engines running and i had 4 running.why would i start to control his engines when his engines are not programmed in my remote? Then i loose control of my engines.could not even turn my engines off. All are mth engines. can somebody help me? thx

I'm not totally sure what help you want. When you are back home with your engines, just press read when each engine is on your powered track.
That will associate your engines back with your TIU. That probably got changed at his house.
When you are running with him next time, try not using the all command and running each engine to see what works. If you visit him a lot, assign different addresses to one of you two's engines. Somehow you guys are going to have to operate more like a club does, or just run with it as is.
Did any 2 locos have the same ID?
each loco had its own ID i might be confusing the way i described the problem thx for the help.what we ended up doing was he ran his trains with his remote. I put my train in a lash up ran my train with my remote everything ran fine. Plus i'm still learning the DCS and had a real fun time running trains.
Unless your remotes have the same set of engines loaded, perhaps by cloning, this is a common issue. If you have a locomotive with a DCS ID of 10 in your remote, and he has a totally different locomotive with a DCS ID of 10 in his remote, that's exactly what happens.
Remember, all the engine parameters and the DCS ID's are stored in the individual remote. Unless you synchronize the remotes, it's quite possible and indeed quite common to have ID conflicts.
In large club settings like the NJ-HR, anyone running at club events uses the club remotes to minimize the issues of ID conflicts.
Lionel Legacy works totally different, and all the engine data is stored in the base.
