does anyone know if mth sells kits of scerws for upgrades like smoke switch and other various screws used in ps engines

Most hardware stores have screws down to 2-56. If not there is always McMaster Carr. If they don't have it, you don't need it. Plus,  way lower shipping costs.

Micro Fasteners is another source for small screws. They used to have a 'train kit' (among others) for train repair, but that one might be more for postwar trains? They do have a good selection of small screws, nuts, washers, etc. in addition to the kits they have.

Many local Ace Hardwares have tiny screws.  I came across one that even had 0-#

I thought MTH was metric fasteners. Their predrilled and tapped holes for mounting Kadee couplers are 2mm. And Kadee's are mfg. for 2-56. I know the JIS screwdrivers (Japanese Industrial Standard) work by far better in MTH than fractional size screwdrivers. If you have any threaded holes you are going to want metric. 

Clem, there are a mix of SAE and metric, at least on the older ones.

Hardware stores in my area don't go below 6-32. I buy screws from Micro Fasteners and from L&L Model Train Restoration.  They took over Ted Nyerge's Screw business.

I have purchased other goods from McMaster Carr and received great service.

I got a bunch of small metric screws from old disk drives.  When I'm tossing an old disk, I disassemble it.  I also got quite a collection from junked laptops.
