My good friend Bill Harrison and his wife Shirleen had a fire Christmas day and lost their home and busines .They lost a lot but they were safe they were at their daughters for the holiday down the street. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they put their lives back together.

I can confirm what Don said above. I talked to Bill and he gave me the details of the fire....pretty much wiped him out. Everyone was fine but the layout and parts area were badly damaged. Here is the email that Bill wanted me to post for him:
I never meet Bill, but have done business with him. Nice guy and I hope he and his family can recover from the devastating set back.
What a tragic lost to the hobby but thank-God they are safe. It's a tragic lost for them, I hope they can pick-up there lives and continue with or without the train part business, the important thing here is they where not hurt physically
I don't know how or even where to start a Go Fund Me page, but this sounds like a good opportunity to reach out to Bill and his family as best as we can. I am more than ready to kick in - has anybody ever done this, and would you be willing to do so again?

Perhaps after they have recovered for a while, we can combine to support some form of revival of their business, should they so choose.
Thankfully they are safe. The road to recovery is a long one after a devastating fire. From those I've known that faced it, the loss of your keepsakes and irreplaceable family history items is one of the hardest aspects.

I wanted to add that Bill is a really nice fellow and has been a long time supporter of the hobby and the OGR magazine....we all wish him well...
As someone who've I've met many times when Bill was in the NOLA area, I have great respect for the man. He was a great guy to deal with, and did some fine work.

I'm very sorry to learn of this. Bill has always been a good guy to deal with, not to mention being only 30 miles away made S & W very convenient.
Wow, that's terrible news. Been to his house/business many times. His whole collection was on the walls around the huge layout. Hope some of it is salvageable. I completely understand shutting down the business.
