BAR GP/ #63: WOW!  Neat shot of the two VR (Finnish Railway) road switchers.  Is the unit in the foreground wearing the current color scheme?

Thank you. The front locomotive has a newer painting version but the newest is gray green. The Dv12 series was built mainly in the 1960s and 1970s and now VR has ordered new Stadler diesels. In a few years, the Dv12 series will largely disappear from the rail network.

Johan:  The "Green Machines" are Cool Cats!  Does VR interchange with Russian Railways?  I assume it's performed on 5 Ft. gauge and not standard in the event there is interchange taking place between the two countries?

I like the Dv12 2700 series the most. Yes, VR, Fenniarail and Operail has interchange with Russian Railways. Here in Finland the gauge is 1524mm and in Russia 1521mm,  so the different is only 3mm. I can see some Russian tank cars hear near at my home every day.

Johan: While I was empoyed in the Deutsche Bundesbahn Nuremberg hump yard in the 80s we received tank cars from Russia.  I remember when several got away from a crew and were sent to the runaway track.  What a mess.  Thankfully, they were empty at the time.  Then in the 90s after I had left my switching duties behind me and was employed as a service rep at the Nuremberg Hauptbahnhof, we had a through sleeper from Russia that terminated in Munich.  They were still in the green scheme with the Russian Ry. crest on the car side.  Impressive!

I really like the new Russian Ry. grey and red scheme.  It's really impressive!

Then there are the Chinese Ry. U.S. built GE Diesel units that operate on the world's highest railway from Peking to Tibet.  WOW!  Please pass the oxygen mask!

I think the Russians loaded the cars by dipping them in oil.  I think that grey and red scheme looking a much better than the old green and blue. I like also our Fenniarail and Operail`s paint scheme´s
