My point is, lots of Amtrak equipment retained skirts into the early 70s. Not an excuse for not offering Amtrak equipment with skirts. The above slumbercoach even made it to phase 2 paint with skirts.
I don't know (maybe Scott M and Bob H do), but there may not have been enough inquiries/orders for justifying Amtrak cars. I'd have to go back and read all the post to even see if Amtrak had been offered, I know the data was provided.
Besides, there may always be another run if enough folks make it known they're in the market to buy and let Scott know. I think the Sun-Lounge cars would sell well no matter what name was on the side.

Its hard to get sales on something you do not offer.
Wonder what changed since the Amtrak versions of ATSF high level cars, 4-4-2, 10-6, & Slumbercoaches were made in Amtrak?
I wish I could tell you, I lost all my emails between myself, BobH, and ScottM when I switched email accounts. I know the Amtrak cars were discussed, just don't recall the details or reasons for not doing them at this time.
2 months to Christmas, can't be long now before these ship. Maybe an early present from Santa Scott!!!
Latest from Scott is these will arrive in January 2019. HOWEVER....looks like there's some (pre?) production photos on their site now!!!:
Well I only ordered the extra PRR coach. I am almost paid off with it and I am debating on whether or not to get the extra PRR sleeping car. I still owe on the army comm, hospital, and surgical cars.... Plus the Heavyweights.
Unless GGD comes up with some more PRR cars, I will be done unless I get a hold of their 2008 PRR Broadway LTD sets.

In the projects you mention we had only 2 or 3 orders in Amtrak. Since then Amtrak has required us to sign a licensing agreement to do any more Amtrak painted cars or engines and pay a royalty for the privledge. In the process we are required to send samples for approval of paint color and decal design. Too much expense and effort for just a couple of orders. If anyone wants to paint and decal their own cars, we can offer cars undecorated. These are the reasons why we don't offer Amtrak schemes in these cars.
We are trying to get enough orders for the Amfleet cars. It's getting there, but still short of our expectations.

Thank you for the suggestion. I have checked their site regularly and I am in 3 rail. I have what they offer in three rail now. IF only Beth could convert the 2 rail to three rail.....

ask Beth, you might be surprised.

I've always found Scott very cooperative on doing paint schemes as long as you have enough to make it worthwhile as he runs a business not a charity. I've ordered Amfleet cars but may order more. I am looking at seeing if he will do the Northeast Regional Amtrak scheme. If you are interested in that paint scheme please let him know.
He is offering so many things I want it's hard to get them all....LOL. I have SCL cars coming and VGN EL-2Bs. Looking at the super domes, etc
According to the latest email from Scott, the Meteor is arriving February 10.
Wonder if they'll be on time??? How does GGD ship, UPS, FedEx, USPS???

UPS.
Thanks Bob! I've gotten to know my UPS driver by name this past year
Bob,
I will send you an e-mail when they are shipping.
Thanks Bob!!!
Hi Bob Heil, If possible, please cc the date to tthompson3@sc.rr.com when you send to Bob D.
My best regards
Tommy
Hi Folks,
I cut the UPS tags for most all paid orders on Monday. We are picking and packing these orders and 1/2 have shipped on Monday 2.11 and the rest will ship 2.13. I hope they arrive un damaged, but if so, just email me if you need service. Every single set and car is spoken for. It's really been crazy trying to keep up with orders. I guess that's a good thing.
We will be announcing more trains in the near future. Thanks to all of you that support these projects.
Beautiful trains at a very reasonable price. Keep them coming!!!
Ken
Thanks again Scott and BobH. This train has been at the top of my want list since I got into O scale 30 years ago!
Wish I knew more about the Atlantic Coast Line passenger trains, that would be my next "want"!!!
The cars look marvelous Scott
Any pics guys? Awaiting my set to arrive.
Very excited here........just hope I don’t get walloped with the extra 30% plus we often get charged here in the UK.

OK, I'll take the bait (and leave it to the OP to start a new thread if he wants to).
Here are a few pictures of the three cars from my six car set that I have unboxed. The perspective in the first photo makes it seem that these might be a 21", an 18" and a 15" car but obviously they are not:
The photo above gives a fairly accurate impression of the finish, which is painted to represent stainless steel. In the ones below of the observation car it is either too shiny or too dull compared to the actual model:

Those are spectacular!!!

Scott,
Have you ever considered in making the Phoebe Snow 8 car set.
VistaDomeScott posted:Those are spectacular!
Yes, agreed; spectacular is the word. There are a few cosmetic issues but a couple of things to note:
1. No “dead spots” in the internal LED lighting as with older GGD 21” cars, which is an improvement Scott said would be made.
2. The GGD passenger figures inside are OK but the quality of these cars practically cries out for more and better figures that do not look like they were made for reclining chairs. Not sure I am ready to open up any of them for this purpose but the Sun Lounge car needs attention . . .
As a side note, I wish all passenger cars came without figures, but 3 railers ask for them. When you remove them, the chairs are left damaged from the glue. If Scott takes them from future productions, it could help prices but I bet many will see that as a "removed" feature. I'm ok w them as long as Scott can keep on making these gifts for us.

Beautiful!!! Mine should be here any day now.
What did you have to do to put Kadees on them?
I'm getting 3-rail cars but run on code 148 2-rail track, so I need to (1) put Kadees on and (2) remove the center rollers. That means no lights so (3) I'll have to figure out how to light that gorgeous OBS car's rear end!
When I saw the diner photo I almost went into shock, WHAT'S an antenna doing on top of (my) SAL car?!?!?!?! But the only photo I can find of a real one kinda shows an antenna on the roof, either that or there's a handrail behind the car and it's an optical illusion.

I didn't (install Kadees). What you are seeing on the rear of the observation car is the scale coupler that comes stock on this particular car. It looks like a Kadee but I am not sure it is. The other couplers are the stock GGD 3 rail style.

Sacrilege! These cars were meant to run with full lighting. But I assume that you can power them off the wheels with an appropriate DC-DC conversion module.

No, that's no illusion; there is an antenna there. Shows up slightly better in the additional photo below:
I have not researched the prototype sufficiently to know whether the antenna is completely accurate but I have learned to trust how streamlined cars are rendered by the best HO car builders, whose research I have consulted for other named trains. In this case I have found the below images, which although not of the same car as GGD modeled nonetheless show the antenna in place:

Thanks! I'll be running lights (are they LEDs???) off a battery (no power on my rails) at some point, the rear lights on the OBS anyway, don't care for that operating room appearance the lights give in O scale cars.

Here's a thought: Some Importers have been known to have an ON/OFF switch on the bottom for lighting. A nice option, I think....or you could get a couple Doctor figures to sit in your cars.
Simon
It could be a "Doctors Golf Special" train, like the golf train trips they had back in the early 1900s down to Pinehurst!!!
Mine arrived today and they look great!
Where can you purchese these? I have been looking for that Sun-Lounge for years to complete my Lehigh Gorge Special (It was on the train)

The Sun Lounge was only part of the six car set. I pre-ordered mine at least a couple of years ago. While I suspect that they are sold out at GGD you might try contacting them or one of their dealers.
