That's certainly a great price.

Gee, what a deal. I got the Lionel B&O EM-1 back in 2000. It was $1400 + tax. That's about $1850 in today's dollars.

Any other shop have this special pricing or just Charles Ro ??

So far only Ro and since he buys direct Lionel must be making deals!

Thats why I hate buying Lionel engines when they first come out  Its only a matter of time before they are on blowout.  Then if you don't preorder sometimes your left without it  ****ed if you do and ****ed if you don't  Ro had the Erie Mikado at Amhert 200 cheaper than I paid in York

Not really... many of us knew about the wholesaletrains.com thread when it was discussed, but Charlie Ro's super sale legitimizes the deal.  Charlie is as straight up a dealer as you'll ever find.  No worries about ordering product from him.  Have been doing it for 30+ years and wouldn't hesitate a bit.

Totally agree with Dave here, Charlie Ro is the best. If you order from them there is never a worry. I ordered the WP EM-1 today from Charlie today and I can rest easy knowing I will get it. 

 

I hope they have the drive shaft issue fixed on the new ones. I had Dean Brasseur repair my 2000 B&O EM-1 about a year ago when it failed.

Great deal. However,  I am keeping my old one. Great sounds,  repaired the drive shaft,  and it can pull 40 die cast two bay hoppers up a 3 percent grade. Too bad they don't sell upgrades, then I would upgrade this one and double head with a new one!

Just got an email from Trainworld with a bunch of stuff! They keep this up wonder what will be left for North Carolina?

there have been no great deals on premium diesels for a while - sd40's, sd80's, c420's, GP35's, GP60's, rs11's, etc. all have held prices.  A few random mark downs here and there (i recall the NYC DD35), but nothing that seems like the distributors are blowing out particular models of diesels.

I just spent 800 on a new never taken out of the box Lionel bigboy from 1999 so I tried hard not to buy the EM1 but did not have the will power. Great deal For 710 including shipping. Thanks for posting RickO. John

Yes... and it makes it all the MORE difficult to feel good about spending "regular" prices on the new steam locomotives due out in another month or so.  Really... no whistle-steam effect, and dealers will likely price them up around $1100 (Mohawk) and $1170 (J, SP Daylight, SP/WP GS-6x's)???   Nah... I think I'll watch from the sidelines for awhile.

From a Lionel "scale" perspective, nothing spectacular.  Only the NYC DD35A powered and dummy units, along with the Pacific Harbor Genset.  Other Lionel stuff was all traditional... mostly 6464 boxcars.  Lots of Williams stuff again too.

The EM1 from  RO is a great deal, With whistle steam it was a no brainer. Glad I ordered one. My last 2 scale engines are from RO blowouts. 

 

But I think that these blowouts will only prevent people from preordering. This could make some of our favorite engines to be not made. It's a double edge sword for both the mfg. and buyer. 

 

whats your thoughts on this?
