Nice but it too bad PAT didn't save some of their PCC cars like other cities did. But PAT doesn't do much that is right.
Hey now. PAT not doing much right is why the 400x series of rebuilds remained in service for so long.

But you don’t have to go very far to see Pittsburgh PCC’s, four in total with two of them completely restored and operable, at the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum in “Little Washington”.

I have ridden the PCCs many times around the Burgh and I know there are several around but some cities restored them and run them in the city-not a museum. As a kid I lived a block from the 42 Dormont line and later used the 53 Carrick and the Flying Fraction. I have the video of the South Hills lines produced by the museum-love it.

Small world as I lived in Carrick and also rode PCC's on the 53 and the flying fraction plus occasionally the 47. I’m even old enough to have ridden the cars that preceded the PCCs - the old orange trolleys. Later moved to West Mifflin, near Lincoln Place, and rode the 65 and 56.

Which side of LP? While I only remember the very end of the line to Lincoln Place through Homestead/Munhall, I grew up on Brierly Ln

Yes, I remember as a kid the old yellow trolleys. First time I was in a PCC I was amazed at how wonderful they looked. They still do. We lived in Dormont untill after WW II, then Mt. Oliver for two years then Brentwood until after college. Good times. We didn't have a car so rode trolleys, the bus or walked.
Out of curiosity, does anyone on the forum have a map of the old trolley system? e.g. All the routes before the buses.
Not sure but, I think, I have seen one. Will look at my trolley books.
There are nice maps of Pittsburgh trolleys in the wonderful book Transit in the Triangle by Hays and Toman, published in 2012 by the CERA (Central Electric Railfans Association). Here some photos I took in the early 1950s including the Flying Fraction. Enjoy.

Here's a 1959 Map of the Pittsburgh Railways System streetcar system. Some of the routes had been converted to buses by then. I may have an older one if I can find it.

Nice photos, thanks for posting. But what is the 77/54 doing at South Hills Junction? Was that a fan trip?
BTW, I have that Transit in the Triangle book. Good book.

The 77/54 was probably a pullout from the S. Hills carhouse. Definitely not a fan trip. The 47 Carrick via
Tunnel ran rush hours only.

Great Video I loved it! Also it will be more than one Map, the Street Cars ran East, West, North and South in and outside of Pittsburgh.
