How many have bought it only to have not work properly , or work at all ?
I bought the unit with the z1000 transformer .
I tried adding 5 ps-3 engines & 1 ps-2 engine . PLEASE NOTE ALL MY ENGINES ARE O-GAUGE
only 2 ps-3 engines would work .
I am not Happy !
I told store i was going to return unit for refund . He ordered another Dcs commander .
I got it home to find it DOA . The Display would not even work !
At this point I would like to THROW the crap ACROSS the PACIFIC !

Truthfully, the DCS Commander was really targeted at the HO market, it's pretty limited for O-gauge. I'd return that and opt for the full DCS system, you'll be much happier.

Never had a issue with any of the dozens we sold but always sold to a HO guy.
Originally I think it was advertised as a choice to run a small layout of O gauge trains, but when I asked questions about possibly using it, everybody I talked to said it was much better with HO! So I passed!
Just wanted to say I have 2 DCS commander units and have never had a problem with either. I just have a small layout with 2 isolated tracks. Just running 1 pair of 14 gauge wires to each track and it works well.
Hoping to upgrade to the WiFi version this year but for someone just wanting to try DCS I think the Commander works well, especially as there seem to be cheap ones on ebay occasionally. Having said that, if I could go back in time I wish I would have bought the TIU and handheld in the beginning. Seem to do that with a lot of tools as well.
One was DOA and returned. Second purchased from Trainworld. I ran both Proto 3.0 O gauge diesels and a Proto 2.0 Standard Gauge 4-car Blue Comet set with the second one with zero problems. The Commander, or "DCS Lite", was used with a Z1000. Luck of the draw? China roulette? Who knows!
Apparently NOT a bad design - maybe just an occasional "Lemon"?
