Installing Ross switches

Hi gang:  I am ready to install my first ever set of Ross Ready switches on the layout I am building.  The two switches will be acting as a crossover between two loops of track. Each switch has a Z-1000 switch machine. Each loop will be powered separately, one from each side of a MTH Z-4000 transformer.  Control is all conventional from the Z-4000.  

NOW, my question is, do I need to install insulating pins, if so where at in the crossover.  I am only guessing, between the joint where the center rails of both switches meet.

Melvin,

Yes, you should have insulating pins in the center rail where the two switches are connected if the two loops use different power sources, even if they are different outputs of the same transformer.

Also, if you plan to wire for automatic non-derailing operation, to throw an open switch if a train enters into an incorrectly-oriented switch, then you also need to have insulting pins in the outside, inner rails of the "Y" for each switch.
