I don't have any photos, but I have a B&O Geep and Pennsy Geep (the basic ones that were offered as K-Line Dealer promotions) and 2 of the Hershey sets (the one with the MP-15 switcher and the anniversary one with the 4-6-2 pulling the freight).

Both of the Hershey sets are great, and were a great deal, since they included buildings!

The only other K-Line set I would like to get would be the B&O Presidential passenger set, which had the 4-6-2 and the streamlined passenger cars.

I have a KCC Kennecott RS-3 with TMCC/Railsounds, which I believe are quite scarce.  They came in at least two different numbers.  The fellow That I bought this from had another one numbered (I think) 109.

Sorry for the poor pic, I'm away from home and can't photograph mine.

I also have a number of other items including the scale Hudson and a Canadian Pacific 18" passenger set with F-7s.  I haven't found the CP baggage car yet.

I have an extra K-Line 15 inch SP Combine and SP observation if you or anyone else are interested.  They look great, but each has some slight problems.  The combine is missing

the Daylight emblem on one side and when you open the baggage door the floor is beginning o warp upwards.  Otherwise it looks superb.  The price is right--only $35.

The observation had warping floor problems which I fixed with a well placed screw.  It is

not readily visible.  The car looks great.  Price is right -- only $50.

Shipping will be in addition, or I can bring the cars to York.  Sorry no boxes.

If you're interested I'll take plenty of pictures and send them.

Thanks,  Lew Schneider

I don't know if K-Line by Lionel qualifies. Among several items my favorite is the paired set of CNS&M interurbans. Added anti-climbers and horns, diaphragms ( as in the prototype) More realistic trolley poles are en route. I sense these may be rare, maybe not, but I really enjoy running them when I switch to non-tinplate operating sessions.

I have several K-Line cabooses plus some freight cars, the complete 18" Golden State set and the complete American Freedom Train set.  I also have 8 PRR 18" aluminum cars and a 9 21" PRR aluminum cars, all with full interiors.  Engine wise, I have their PRR A5, B6, L2 and a Shay.  Not too many, but they all look and run great!

I really like their scale coil gondolas, I have a few of them.  My father had a couple of their scale articulated gunderson container car sets a while ago and they were nice, although we thought it was a bit odd that they put bettendorf instead of roller bearing trucks on them.  He modified them with Atlas O roller bearing trucks which lowered them a bit and definitely looked much better, although the mod proved to be a bit problematic and ended up selling them.

Off the top of my head, I have:

--2 Chessie S-2 switchers

--5 MP 15's (2 NS, KCC, LIRR and a clear-shell engineering sample)

--GP38 (Chessie)

--EP-5 (NH)

--F40ph (Amtrak)

--F3 (Metro-North--I pretend it's an F-10)

--FM (Virginian)

--SD70 (CSX)

--E8 (Rock Island)

Die-cast hoppers (about 4)

Die-cast gondolas (2 Rock Is.)

Die-cast boxcar (RailBox)

A few of the 6464-size traditional boxcars

Crane and crane tender (with odd non-fast-angle wheels)

Four Plymouths and 40 of the two-axle hoppers

A couple of 50' (I think) flats

A couple of 16-wheel flats

8 of the 15" Bombadier coaches

The Golden State aluminum set---(except for the "Golden Outlook" dome six posts above)

Four Superliners (Amtrak)

The LIRR Greenport Scoot (with two add-on coaches)

Four of the RailMate trailers (Amtrak)

A pair of DTTX double-stack articulated sets

A couple (maybe three) of Husky-Stack singles

Three TTAX spine-car articulated sets

About 7 aluminum ACF hoppers (5 of them being the chrome Santa Fe set)

A couple of aluminum tankers

Perhaps a half-dozen standard tankers

Some 027 tankers

An unspecified number of 027 boxcars (most of them KCC York freebies)

Hmm...it seems I've actually bought a significant amount of K-Line

The more photos I see the more I miss K-Line. Another favorite I have is both the original Rock Island passenger set with the add on cars as well as the complete Golden State set. K-Line was my reintroduction to O. The prices were reasonable as well..sigh.

Maybe the big two need a competitor like K-Line to improve things for us.

I know..dream on.

I really like my K-Line cars a lot. I never bought any engines because I was worried about spare parts. I only collect certain types of K-Line cars like only 21"ATSF passenger, NO COAL HOPPERS, most 4 bay grain hoppers, certain 2 bay grain hoppers, no box cars or refers, Certain Tank cars. So I do like the K-Line product but have tryrf to manage the collection a bit or I would need a warehouse for them

I have three SuperStreets vehciles from the very first production run when 'Streets was a brand new product line: the K-Line logo van on the left and two of the REA vans shown in the photo below.  These early 'Streets vehicles were quite different from subsequent years' production by K-Line, Lionel, or now, WBB.

Advantages these first-year vans have over subsequent 'Streets vehicles were that they had a heavy, solid metal chassis, heavy-duty telescoping action lever center pickups, a F-N-R unit with an on-off switch, and a blinking light bar - and their rectifier is mounted ahead of their electronics - they will run the same, with the F-N-R e-unit functioning, on AC or DC.  Disadvantages compared to subsequent models are: they have no interior and their wheels look distinctly "train-like" rather than car- or truck-like.

I had a K-Line scale Hudson.   A lot of folks always talks about it as it if is the Hudson model loco ever made and I imagine it was very prototypically accurate as a model, but frankly it looked just like any other scale Hudson to me. - the differences are lost on me.  It did not run or sound nearly as good as recent models (V Hudson) so I gave it away to a worthy family starting their layout.  I also had a pacific or Mikado - can't remember which, that gave some problems so I but it in my parts bin and used some of it for this and that.  I had a set of 18" K-Line aluminum passenger cars but I gave those away recently.  They were very good but I just had way too many aluminum Super Chief cars.

We've had a few nice K-Line items over the years but were out of the hobby when the really interesting scale steamers, diesels, and 21" cars were produced. When I returned to the trains in early 2009 was very surprised to hear about the demise of K-Line and the attendant lawsuits et. al.

What we have now is a No 5344 Hudson with a JDS PS2 conversion and a few of the aluminum business cars. Also a few die-cast hoppers and scale reefers. We did have the PRR B6 0-6-0 (a beautiful locomotive) as well as three Mikados and two other scale Hudsons. This PS2 Hudson is the best performer by far with the MTH electronics and smoke system. It runs, sounds, and smokes like a current production locomotive.

A quick note on the Hudsons as mentioned by Lee above - they all do look pretty similar which just shows how far the hobby has progressed. Also just how well old Josh Cowen did back in 1937 with his original 700E. That steamer was a quantum leap from the tinplate trains of their day!

In this photo below, we have the 1996 release of No. 5344 from MTH (left) which still holds up well in detail and performance to the K-Line model (right) and current Hudsons from Lionel and MTH.  If you blacked the drivers and handrails, it would be difficult to tell them apart. Right-click and 'Open link in new window' to enlarge this shot to see the detail.

These two locomotives are virtually identical in their dimensions. Some have thought that the K-Line was slightly undersized but evidently not from my side by side comparison.

To the K-Line's credit however, the detail overall seems finer and more crisp than the others upon close inspection. Do you think a Legacy "K-line" model is forthcoming someday?
