I've run my new LC2.0+ Genesis a few times since receiving it a few days ago, and I've had some trouble with movement becoming unresponsive. Operations will be normal, and then, after bringing it to a stop or changing directions, it simply will refuse to move. When throttling up, the sounds respond, but the engine won't move. This happens under Bluetooth and TMCC control. It's not all the time, seems sort of random. Getting it "unstuck" requires a full power off/on it seems.

Anyway, has anyone experienced this type of issue with a locomotive? And how do I go about handling it? Contact the dealer or do I open an issue with Lionel directly?

That was ALSO a LC+2.0 Genesis and went back to Lionel and even Lionel initially could not reproduce the error on their test track. This is why below I try to explain and examine the external influences I believe could invoke the safety code and the problem.

In general, the new Lionchief 2.0 electronics platform has a feature to detect motor stall. The how it does it is- when you command an rpm(speed) there is a tachometer sensor on the motor, and if within a certain time period, the motor cannot reach this speed (for any reason- example source track voltage is low, so then motor never gets enough voltage) then the electronics lock out the motor control to prevent motor burnout. This state of lockout should be indicated by the cab light blinking and this sequence is described in the manual.

Again, the states that could cause this externally:

low track voltage

dirty track or pickup rollers

dead spots or loose track connections

rapid commanded speed increase when track power (combination of transformer source, wiring, the track, connections, and rollers) drops under sudden load and speed increase commanded by the loco- cannot do it fast enough and trips the locked motor function

Bad/loose traction tries jamming the wheels against the sideframe

Something jamming the gears of the truck (example ballast or something caught in the externally exposed gears.

Also, something funny about these:

You will notice that on the diecast speaker and fuel tank on the bottom of these locos, a few oval stickers with inspection numbers. But key, there is one left on that says PS3 - a holdout left over from MTH production.

My fear is that later on (years from now), when people sell these and possibly without box, without manual, that PS3 sticker may cause confusion to a future buyer.

Thanks. I will check a few things. I ran it on two separate layouts, with AC (ZW) and DC (wall wart), and had the issue on both. My voltage should be okay but I can check that and see if that helps.
