I just had the above loco take a nose dive off my table complete accident by grandchild.   Drive gear no longer was engaged to drive gears.   Took apart to examine and removed board above screws to release motor.  Could not see noticeable damage but obviously something.   After putting board back in no response by engine at all.   Figured needed reprogramming to give ID back, still nothing after that.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

i will post pics Monday.. thanks for suggestions.   before i took board off to take the engine off to look at the pinion gear, it would mot engage with drive wheels.  engine just ran not contacting drive wheels

Wow, ...that sounds like it took a pretty hard hit then,.....sounds like What Pete suggested, and maybe worse, ....a dead short can kill boards in short order,.....we’ll wait for pics and hopefully we can make some suggestions for diagnostics,....in the meanwhile, did you get the motor to engage the worm gears again?...if so, how did you make that repair?....I ask cause that may lead to other clues,...
