Two days ago I took delivery of a new Lionel Legacy Baldwin Centipede; got if from Legacy (appropriately) Station in the Atlanta area.
On sale; $660 (+s/h). Pretty good. As I live next door in Alabama, it got here in 24 hours. Zoom-zoom.
Anyway, it runs and functions flawlessly using a Cab-1.
The ground strap on one of the end trucks was strangely not attached, but a screwdriver fixed that.
Now, I didn't get the Seaboard Centipede, even though they ran into Alabama's capital of Montgomery. I got the Nacionales de
Mexico (NdeM), because, well, I find them interesting. A while back I painted a Weaver FA in the same scheme as the Centipede.
So, though I never use it, I hit AUX1 (7) to hear the proper dialogue, and what comes out of the speaker? Midwestern US English!
WTF? My MTH Chapelon Pacific speaks French, as it should, so couldn't they have done a quick Mexican-Spanish variation...?
Clueless moment. It says "N de M" on the side.
No big deal; nice loco, really long. Not as heavy as I expected, which is OK.
