Please correct me if I'm wrong. If the orange modules that come with a Legacy locomotive are for loading that specific loco info into the Legacy remote/legacy system, what purpose do the white/tan modules serve? Are they actually necessary? I know that they are for TMCC/non-Legacy engines but do they contain information similar to the orange modules? After they are used for a specific engine are they reusable?

They apply the generic basic setup for TMCC engines. They can be used every time you load a TMCC engine in the cab2.
But do you need a new one for each engine?
No use it over and over again.... Or just key in the needed parameter manually. IMO the tan modules are a waste.
Thanks for your reply. I had a feeling they weren't really necessary. Unfortunately I didn't know this and ordered one for each of my TMCC engines. When I called Lionel I never even got a sense that was the case. I only ordered 2. Thankfully they weren't that expensive.
There is one for steam and one for diesel.
The tan modules are truly a waste. The orange Legacy modules are a bit more useful as they enter a lot of locomotive specific information like road name, type cab #, etc. You can also enter all this information via the keyboard as well, it just takes longer.
