Very cool sign! I can't really tell the dimensions of the sign from the pic but does it take the round type from a kitchen light?

Joe, sounds like a F13T5 type bulb. These are usually straight type bulbs. You may have to go to a lighting store to find the circular type. I am pretty sure it is a T5 type flouresent. It probably won't be cheap as you don't see to many of them. Tom

The bulb looks similar to this. The tube is 1/2" diameter and the overall width is 7". the connection is on the inside of the ring. I would imagine there are a bunch of different bulbs like this but no sure which is the correct one for this sign.

 

Real simple. Remove the bulb, and take it to any hardware store and show it to them. They'll get you the replacement. This is a common fixture. I have several of these bulbs inside some lighted clocks I have, for example.

I also have that sign.  On mine I added an on/off push button on the side to control the motor that creates the special effect.  Now I can use it for accent lighting without wear and tear on that small, and very noisy, motor.

That's probably what I will do. The only reason I didn't do that is because you have to remove the motion wheel and the spring clips that hold the bulb in place just to get it out.
