Hello, new here, I purchased sone train stuff at a auction and the one engine looks as though it was being retired. Wires were all cut and I have no idea where to put them or if it even runs. The engine is pretty rough to boot but I’d like to try and fix it. Any pics of a similar engine or how to wire it, instructions how to check it and out clean it.Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks Jerry.imageimageimage

The attachment is the wiring diagram for a loco with a 2-position 'E' unit.

Looks like you are missing a screw to hold the brushplate in place, 4-40x1/4" Pan Head.

Clean all the wheels and pickup rollers with Naphtha. Unsolder the wires to the motor and remove the brushplate. Do not lose the brushes. Clean the copper commutator segments on the armature, the brushplate, and brushes with Naphtha.

Reassemble the brushplate and brushes, and wire the loco per the attached drawing.

A drop of light oil on the armature bearings and on the axles and you're ready to roll.
