Need ID of NOS Postwar motor electronics

Those motors are modern era, not postwar. The blue things are filter capacitors to cut down on brush noise, which can affect the electronics in modern era locomotives so equipped.

They should be marked with a value somewhere on the blue case.

Those blue "bits" are actually capacitors. These motors are very likely LTI production motors as Postwar motors did not ever have them to my knowledge.

I'm not a electrical engineer, but I believe they were installed to cut down on electrical "noise" when operated with solid state electronics; in this case a solid state reversing unit. I'm sure Gunrunnerjohn can fill you in with all the accurate details once he sees this thread.

In a Postwar Berk, I'm sure you could remove them without harm.

Brush Noise??? When I run the old ones,I enjoy the “brush noise”,along with all the other winding and grinding,and true “Clickety Clack” .I will most likely remove the “Caps”

The capacitors are for electrical noise suppression, not noise that you can hear.

Brush noise - not as an audible noise but as in electrical noise that will show up on oscilloscopes and hinder operation of sensitive electronics.
