I just came across this on the Menards website. I ordered one so I can check it out. Also noticed they have flatcars for $7.00 but you have to buy more than one.

Wow, that's some fairly hefty shipping & process charges. Nice piece, though.

And the scale is right too.  1:48 is not as plentiful as 1:43 in these style of trucks.  Way to go Menards!  I am anxious to see the new Milwaukee Road engine shed too.

I agree.

If anyone picks up the MLW engine shed, please post and review.  It looks like a great building, although the sign needs to be changed.

It looks like the total cost includes a $2.80 Processing Fee regardless of how many items you so it might be worth it buy more than one item.

When I changed the quantity to three, the fee stayed the same and shipping only increased by $ 1.00.

It shouldn't be too hard to find a couple of train related items.

Menard's never has all of their train-related stuff in the store.  They can't devote the shelf space.  So I just order online and pick up in store.

I ordered 4 of the flatcars w/tank plus the Menards van. Recieved the 4 flatcars but two of the cars had wheel sets and the wheel cocks & loads floating around in the box. I have not opened them yet to see if I can reattach them. And the van was not in this box, maybe it will be sent in a seperate box. The tank sounds and LEDs are nice.

I didn't see the other 1/43 vehicles pictured above.

How are the boxcars in terms of size and quality?

I have a few of their boxcars, they look identical to Williams boxcars. Menards boxcars are larger than Traditional Lionel close to the same size as Railking.  Pressed steel frame and diecast trucks. The couplers are very stiff. For the price, difficult to find fault in them.

Every Menards store I've ever been to around the holidays has a different selection of trains in stock.  There is no rhyme or reason as to which one stocks what.  I guess it depends on how much room the store has or how many train items have sold their in the past.

Good point.  But they are vans.  How long have people been making boses on wheels?  A van fits any period for about 1960 onward.  And this is a Menard's van - it will be fun, even if it is cheating a bit on my 1955 layout (which already cheats, with Bullitt and his '67 Mustang, etc.)
