Go easy on me gang. I am a relative newbie here. During the past 6 months, I  made a decision to get back into the Hobby after being out of it since 1995. I was extremely fascinated with the new fangled TMCC and Legacy Command systems. Long story short, I purchased a set of Rock Island E-6's (6-14521) this past summer. Had the folks at my local dealer tune up the engine to make sure everything worked properly.

Started saving up some money and bought a 990 Legacy Command system a couple of months ago. Now that winter has settled in, I decided to start testing things out.

So I put up an oval of track in our living room. Hooked up the GW 180 Power Supply and Legacy system to the track.
Things started off fairly well. Started to get everything going. Locomotive ran well. Fine tuned the Momentum so it didn't take off like a jack rabbit.

Anyway, played around with the various command buttons on the remote. Everything seemed to be going okay. Stopped for a while and came back to it later in the afternoon. Lights worked, sounds worked, couplers worked, etc., etc. etc. However, the locomotive refused to move. Tried the TMCC Reset instructions. Three times. Nothing changed. Won't start in conventional mode either.

Tried looking at the speed settings on the remote. Adjusted those. No changes. Remote is set for TMCC and Railsounds for this locomotive. Tried deleting and reinstalling the info on the remote also.

I am at a loss as to what I may have done to cause this locomotive to stop working.

Sometimes it hurts to be new at something. Any thoughts or ideas as to what is wrong are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Place both units on the track in proper position. Address TR9. That is the factory default for the pair set-up as an MU (lashup).

Separately, the powered unit default eng id is 1 and the non-powered id is 2.

Starting on p.55 of the Legacy manual, it describes how to enter the options. The control option for engine(s) should be cab-1, not TMCC.

if you reset the id#s you have to build the MU (lash-up) with those id's. p.18 of engine manual

be sure to follow the steps exactly.

Just a thought - lift the battery cap off the shell and check the battery wire. Sometimes the wire for the 9 volt battery (battery is sometimes very close to the motor) tends to wrap around the motor stopping it from working.

When you say TMCC reset - do you mean the instructions on page 17 of the manual?

First off, Thank you everyone for the tips and hints. I just got back from my local shop. Seems, I may have fried the control circuit during a derailment. Oh DUH!!!!

I really appreciate every tip you folks gave me. Helps me better understand this whole Legacy, TMCC and Cab-1 operation.

Now, in the shop for repairs. Looks like I will be running some conventional units for a while until I get my E-6 back. Not the end of the world. Just a part of the learning process.
