NS Heritage Pictures

Those are great.  Can't really pick a favorite.  Talk about style with substance.  Back up your beauty with brute force baby...

It is amazing what they did with these.I worked in the Altoona yard all last summer and got a chance to see alot of these close up.I also saw 765 come and go.What a summer.

Yeah NS really hit a home run with these units.  I am still amazed at how well these paint schemes translated to the newer power of today.  I know they sure showed up ole' Uncle Pete with em'.

Interesting that many feel that every single one of these "old" heritage schemes is nicer - at least more interesting - than the current plain-looking black and white (mostly black) Norfolk Southern livery.

It's because in this day and age, the heritage paint schemes are unique.  Back in the day they were part of the scenery.

I agree with Rusty.  They are are a big departure from what is out there today, plus the roads had their own identity back then.  That is not to say UP/BNSF/CSX  and NS don't but by comparison todays schemes are plain and not very interesting.

NS added to the excitement for rail fanning with these units.

When they were first announced, I thought I would purchase a model of the Wabash and the Nickel Plate units.  In the end I ordered the NS and Interstate units.

There is a neat website, https://www.heritageunits.com/  that shows where the units have been spotted last. This will help with the railfaning.
