I was up in Buzzards Bay area as a kid, that is somewhere about there. My Aunt lived in Massachusetts for a time as her husband was stationed there in the Coast Guard. I think that was in the 80's some time but not sure if very early 80's or mid 80's. I know he got moved to Governor's Island right around the time the movie Critical Condition with Richard Pryor was being filmed.

Skip the renditions of New York City landmarks on your layout are incredible! Two questions is there an underlying reason the Ford billboard is backwards? And is that a second Chrysler building painted on the backdrop?
My take on the Ford being backwards is that it is on the outside of a dealership showroom window.

Yup, definitely a very busy day on the Central. I think you had posted a video of about 5 minutes long somewhere recently with all sort of engines going every which direction. Gotta love it. Niagara's must be out west I guess.

Until now I had only seen still photos of your layout. Today the video; Wow, spectacular. You can feel the din and grit of the city as the Centrals commerce rolls on. The buildings are breathtaking.
Are your layout details including a track plan posted elsewhere? I would love to know more about the buildings. Thank you for your dedication to your creation, the layout I dreamed of as a child.
I am an amateur, trying in my own feeble way to bring the "Water Level Route" to the shores of Puget Sound, at current rate 5 more years before the whistle sings.

Thanks for all you nice comments. To answer a couple of questions, there are 4 main lines on which I routinely run 7 or 8 trains at a time thanks to Lionel Legacy. There is also an elevated subway line that has doubles as the "High Line," and a subterranean subway line as well.
The backdrops were reprints of Clarke Dunham's great Citicorp Station backdrops. I took my kids to his display in the Citicorp Building every year during the holidays as long as it was there. So yes, there are actually second representations of some of my buildings on the backdrop.
The Ford billboard has the word Ford backwards because you're looking at people who are looking in a window.
The six foot long Hellgate Bridge was custom built by Roger Farkash as I needed something to span 8 tracks.
The layout planning began in 2000 when I moved into my current home. The custom made buildings and bridges were also 17 years from planning to completion with help from very talented people along the way.

I was able to get the reprints directly from Dunham Studios in Pottersville, NY. Clarke Dunham had table space at the York Train Meet and I was able to talk with him about my request and he was most accommodating.

I realized that Clarke Dunham's Citicorp Station has been gone for about 15 years now and some of you may be new to the hobby and have no recollection of this display. Here are a couple of photos. The display still exists at Dunham Studios and the last time I spoke to Clarke, they were looking for a suitable venue in the NYC area to bring it back to life. Clarke's work was a great inspiration for me when I planned my layout.

Yes, crummies were railroad slang for cabooses.

Skip, thanks for the refresher. Times truly does keep marching on. I had no idea it was that long since that layout last graced the Citicorp Building.

Pete, nice run. Cars are MTH, right? When were those produced? They look really nice.

Dave, the cars are MTH but all repaints. I wanted something plainer for the shortlines. MTH only did ESE cars for NYC. Very nice but too fancy for the locals. Lionel is doing NYC and Hudson River cars which look sharp but they priced me out. I can make two trains with engines for what they want for those cars alone.

They look great as what you made them into. I thought that MTH had done a run of those. I was going to start searching the web for them when I got back. I guess I don't have to. Yeah, Lionel really jacked the prices on the cars they produced from the MTH Tooling. I only got the Strasburg run(2000's) and a run of the B&M's. I wasn't going to get anything more from the new catalog at all.
Dave, Beth did a run of unlettered Pullman Green coaches. She may still have some. Lionel bought the molds before she could have more cars made so I had to use other cars and repaint them myself.

Well, I'd have to outsource painting, lettering and all that as my skills in that regard are extremely lacking. Maybe I'll take a look, see what's out there. Thanks again Pete.
I thought I would share an NYC classic using an MTH classic. This is a video I made of my Empire State Express set by MTH. A bit of a walk down memory lane with Proto 1 sounds and passenger silhouettes in the windows of the cars. This set was something for its time and I still enjoy running it in between my command control stuff.
