Well I don't have too much to add, that display from Citicorp is just spectacular.  I did see it once in person and it was truly amazing.  Here are a couple of my modest trains for the post.

Here is the NYC type S from Grand Central station with a little utility train.  The Lionel #152 is from 1926-1927

Here is the hardy Marx Alco S-2 with a short freight from the 1950's.

New York Central P-2b #223 electric motor and heavyweight passenger cars in lightning stripes certainly qualify as NYC Classics. The entire consist is made up of MTH PS1 models. Running on my 12'-by-8' layout.

Love it, Mel. Those NYC electrics are so boxy… absolutely utilitarian, yet there is something so beautiful about them!!! Wish I had gotten to see them hauling commuters through Westchester.

Oh what beautiful trains are pictured here, @C Sam, wow, beautiful Hudson’s, beautiful layout, it’s a view worthy of being a painting, @MELGAR, that’s a beautiful lighting stripe electric locomotive, and beautiful passenger cars, great video, wow. @Don McErlean, your pictures are top notch and your vintage tinplate locomotive is awesome, oldies but beauties bring back memories, they seem to run forever with a little TLC… This steamer in my pictures is a re-built K-Line hudson, re-built at the The Harmonyards. I've always loved the 785.  I may have to get one even though my layout won't really be big enough.  Here's my big NYC steam, a Rail King Mohawk of the first gen.

I've added some details

And had to straighten out a bent roof. I though I had a before and after shot handy but these are both afters.  I'll see if I can dig up a before.

Okay so I tracked down a couple of before photos so you can see the difference.

Is realism no longer a concern for O gauge locomotives and cars ?  As a life long NYC fan and former employee, I have to speak up about a photo that could be called almost sacriligeous - an NYC Hudson with a Vanderbilt tender !!!!

Hudsons had eight and twelve wheel and centipede tenders, all with straight sides  - never a Vanderbilt.

Same problem with those two tone gray heavyweight dining and observation cars.  Both HW cars were long gone before NYC began using that color scheme on other than streamlined cars.

Evidently they kept you underground at GCT way too long, …..that Hudson with a Vandy was issued in 1997 ……😆😆😆

You forgot that they run on three rails…

Ahhh, Pat… I’m afraid it’s way too late for me. Thanks for the pictures of your collection - my collection doesn’t quite rival yours (yet!!!), but we all need something to strive for

P.S. I was lucky enough to have taken a couple of tours of the Metro North Harmon Yard back when they did an open house every year!!!

My all-time favorite.  Love the Niagara front end!

NYC Niagara

This engine has a PS3 upgrade runs great!

The one video that they have on YouTube of the real thing is of a very imposing beast. The interesting thing that I found about watching that video is how different the Niagara is from Northerns. The height difference being chief among them because of the height in and along the Central's lines. It would have been a bad thing hitting the top of the engine going through tunnels.

Sleek, elegant, oozing of raw power,….too bad they never had a chance to live up to their full potential, a pinnacle of what was then, modern steam….Merry Christmas 🎄 Dave!
