My medium sized layout runs 3 trains & a trolley using a ZW & a 1032.  Trains on terminals A and D on ZW and the A-U combination on the 1032.  
(I know they must be in phase)

I’m using a common bus for the entire layout. Am I correct that terminal A on the 1042 and U on the ZW can both be attached to the common buss under the table?  Do I also need to run a line directly between the two transformers?

I plan to use the B-C combination for constant power to a AC/DC Converter.  The DC is used for a timer which controls the length of time the trolley remains at each of the three stops. Will they work independently or does one of them (B?) need to somehow be connected to the common ground.  The trolley itself runs at a constant steady speed and will be powered by terminal B on the ZW.

My questions are,

1..Am I attaching the two transformers to the common buss properly

2.  Do I also need to run a “ground” wire directly between the two transformers- U on ZW to A on 1032

3.  When using the B-C combination for fixed auxiliary power, does either B or C need to be connected to the Common buss.

I do not understand what you and John are saying when you point out that both B and C will have a potential in reference to the common A

Simply, there will always be 5 volts from A-B and 16 volts from A-C whenever the transformer is plugged in. The way the secondary is set up, this also means there is 11 volts from B-C at all times.

The throttle handle, "U", actually sweeps the 11 volts from B to C on the secondary giving 5-16 volts variable. It starts at 5 volts because the other 5 volts from A to B is already in the circuit... but that part of the secondary is not on the exposed swept portion.

A final question (we can all hope!).

on the 1032 B & C are used only to operate a timer relay for the trolley  

U & A will power a train on different tracks with U connected to the center rail and A connected to the common buss

question(s)

Do I need to run a line directly from the A Post on the 1032 to one of the U posts on the ZW?

Can I then connect the outside rails of the track powered by the 1032 to the common ground?
