After reading the positive comments from you Trackman 2000 users, I decided to buy one especially since I was able to get it discounted 14% off the original $140 selling price. So now I'm refocusing myefforts in search of a spare pad or pads for it. If you have a Trackman 2000 spare pad you're looking to sell or know of a relaible source for them, please post or email me.

Just go to the supermarket and buy some scotchbrite pads Cut to size and your set
as I mentioned in your other thread, the pad on the trackman is NOT scotchbrite. Not saying that Ben's suggestion won't work, but when I talked with Henry about the pad he said that he and his brother tried scotchbrite but decided it was not the product for them.

I doubt you will wear the pad out that quickly unless you have miles and miles of track. I haven't replaced mine in 10 years, it is in the same shape as the replacement pad I still have in the package.
Are replacement pads available?
Our modular club has a Trackman 2000 for cleaning the track, and it has a Scotchbrite pad on it and it works just fine. Lasts a long time as well.

John: it might depend on what kind of track. Henry and his brother ruled out scotchbrite pads, according to Henry, because it was snagging. I tried to make 2 of the several suggested cars that were brought up recently on this forum and used scotchbrite pads. Had to quit using both cars after they TRIED to cross the first switch of mine.
I run tubular with K-Line O-27 42" switches.

We used the Scotchbrite on Atlas track and switches. I've also run my modified Lionel track cleaner with Scotchbrite on Fastrack with no problems.

We have three of the Trackman 2000 cars All have scotchbrite pads on them and work great There are probably 15 different types of Scotchbrite PAds The cheapest ones are the ones that work the best. The owner of Trackman 2000 probably doesn't recommend Scotchbrite pads because he wants to sell you ones that cost five times as much after he goes to his supermarket and buys the Scotchbrite pads to sell to you

I recommend against sandpaper for track. It makes tiny scratches in the rails that just collect more dirt. Of course, with plated rails, it also removes the plating very quickly!
