Tonight's all Pullman Chief is powered by Alco 2000 PA diesel electric locomotives. The all room train is just finishing diner while the porter staff prepare the rooms for the passengers. Line side is Erik Lindgren on the 8mm movie camera, Jeff MacDonald and Mike Flauding are taking stills with their 4x5 Graphlex and Kodak Brownie cameras. imageimage

The video is outstanding, and this photo belongs on a magazine cover.  You pick the magazine.  Captures rural Kansas perfectly.   

 

 

 

The High Plains Route layout is Colorado O Scale Modelers member Jeff MacDonald. This is his second o scale layout building one in Lincoln NE. He employs many skills and help from his fellow COSM crew and our Boulder Model Railroad Club folks. Jeff is an amazing person with decades of O scale fine modeling experience.

Mike Flauding is also a master builder registered and builds professionaly for many well know and featured layouts including Chooch's own P48 masterpiece.

Myself I'm a roadie along for the ride I can't paint or draw a straight line nor model a darn thing. ;-)

And that layout . . . who's the owner and builder?  He deserves merits too.  We need to see more.

I am so excited to see this kit built. Jeff is especially thrilled about it!

I'm going for that one too!  Modified a bit, I think it will be a decent fit for the Santa Fe styled turntable I have on order.

 

I hope you are able to post some pictures as it gets built. 

Jeff had Mr Armstrong's business card he picked up years ago on his layout. I couldn't resist a photo with a Bernard Corbin master works behind it. =)

Wow, I skipped right past that John Armstrong business card and engine picture yesterday.  He's at the top of my all time greats list.  I wish I had a nickel for every time I reached for Track Planning for Realistic Operation over the years.  I still have my original.  Third printing. 1969.

Saw it and two of Mr. Corbin's Burlington T2 2-6-6-2's for sale at the Chicago O Scale Meet a couple of years ago. Strongly considered buying one of the T2's, but thought they were not quite up to today's standard. Oh, how foolish, youth!!

       Might I inquire how you obtained it - what path it followed following the March Meet? Of course, #4200 was featured in a 1958 photo spread in Model Railroader depicting some of Mr. Corbin's/"Mr. Burlington's" scratch built Q locomotives.

This model was from Jim Seacrest and was passed to Jeff more than 25 years ago.

Thanks, Erik. Good to see that great old models don't die! Jim Seacrest is a long-tenured Burlington enthusiast and has a perpetual want ad in Model Railroader for O Scale equipment. Thought for sure I had seen a Burlington 2-8-8-2 along with the two T2 2-6-6-2's at that Chicago March meet. Maybe I was suffering delusions!  "Bernie" was a prolific builder and built something like 125 Burlington O Scale locomotives, so possibly he built more then one 2-8-8-2. He is the author of the definitive work on CB&Q motive power, Steam Locomotives of the Burlington Route.

Both Jeff and I believe there are more than one. You very well could have seen one!

Completely changing the subject- I am just getting around to doing a photo review of the Silver Lady "Aspen Nose" PA's from Key Model Imports 2010 run!
