A heartfelt THANK YOU and sincere appreciation for all of you men and women who have served our nation and it’s citizens.

Because of your commitment and sacrifice, along with your families, we are able to be free to enjoy life like no other country. We are free to argue our politics, vote for whom ever we want, go wherever we desire and get to enjoy this wonderful hobby of O gauge trains and come together on this great meeting place to share it.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!! SALUTE!!!!

Absolutely have a tremendous amount of respect for our vets! I truly do not know what true sacrifice is when compared to what these wonderful, brave men and women have been through for us and our country. You are the true American heroes of this great nation of ours. God bless all of you! I've had a few friends that served  in Iraq and Afghanistan and are truly awesome people. I always like sitting down with WW2, Vietnam, and Korean war vets and chatting with them. Just lending an ear can make a world of a difference in someone's day. Again God Bless all of you!

You raise a good point. It is a little off topic, but not really. Sebastian Junger, in either his book "War", about being embedded with troops in Afghanistan, or his book "Tribes", said that the one biggest thing that veterans told him was so important was people willing to listen to their stories. Some of course don't want to talk about their experiences IME, my dad was like that, but to others it means a lot.

For those of us who lived through the Vietnam and the immediate post-Vietnam era, we recall that the military and veterans were treated miserably at the time by segments of the population.  Flash forward to the 21st century, that is no longer the case. Everywhere you go nowadays, like sporting and public events, it is great to see tributes and honors to military and veterans. It is common now to see people go up to our current and past warriors with a "Thank you for your service."

As any combat Veteran will inform you'.. they are not looking for a thank you'.  The thought is a nice jester.  However, Vietnam Vets will also inform you'.. it's 50 years late... In my case, I received hazardous duty pay, combat pay, and basic pay.  That was thank you' enough for me'....  In spite of many injuries and sacrifices, I would do it all over again'...  FOLLOW ME'... I AM THE INFANTRY'...
