Living in Alaska means lots of cold winter months. We have a cat who likes to live with us during the winter because of the cold.

In the summer she moves out and comes and goes as she pleases. Well her favorite place to enjoy the winter is on my layout.

I have lots of cat hair where she sleeps and thought about using a sticky pet hair roller. The kind you wash with warm soapy water, rinse with clean water, pat dry and reuse over and over.

I bought two rollers from Amazon. One mini and one regular roller. The mini I cut down and fashioned under a Menards flat car and the larger one I cut down and made it sort of a trailer.

They seem to work really good. They stick to the track like magnetraction and pull off a lot of the black gunk that builds up.

They are easy to pop out, wash in warm soapy water, rinse, pat dry and go find some more gunk.

They don't leave any residue because it's just a sticky rubber roller. I've found it's not possible to clean off all the black gunk from the roller but it doesn't seem to matter. A wash, rinse and dry and although discolored they still get very sticky.

Maybe when I get more time I'll build something similar under a boxcar.

I'd like to see what some of you could come up with.

       Pics of my cars below.
