The Network Rail System in the UK has suspended main line access (specifically steam powered) operated by "West Coast Railways", until May 15, 2015. It seems that on March 7, 2015 the crew of steam locomotive #34067, "Tangmere" apparently acknowledge an in-cab ATC speed reduction indication, but then did not actually comply with the requirements to reduce speed, resulting in a SPAD (Signal Passed At Danger), i.e. in US railroad language the crew failed to stop at a red signal! Naturally, an extensive investigation is now underway, as it was reported that a possible high speed collision was averted by only one minute.
