I too am putting this on a list of projects I want to do.  I could get carried away with saucers.  There is Klatu's of course from The Day the Earth Stood Still (the original, not that lame remake) - it also had great landing sounds - particuarly at the very last instance when it reaches the ground, and then United Planets Cruiser C57D, Forbidden Planet, which was "Robby the robot's" first starring role, before he went on to fame in Lost in Space.)

While Robby the Robot appeared in two episodes of Lost in Space, the Robinson robot was an unnamed B-9 robot.

 

There's a world of difference between the two.  This photo gleeped off the web shows the difference:

Yeah, I understand Robby was too expensive to use in the full series - older technology and all, and they built a newer one for the rest of the shows.  But Robby was always my hero.  The way he clicked and clacked before he spoke was fantastic, and frankly, I was never looking at him in the movie - it was Anne Francis . . .
