Since losing our former layout we're now restricted to a short bench track powered by a Z1000 brick through the TIU. Several times since setting this up I've experienced blown fuses in the TIU. In 3 years on the home layout we never had a blown fuse.  The obvious difference is the Z brick in lieu of the Z4000 used previously. Why is this happening?

Gentlemen,

I use the 10 Amp Scott type breakers in front of every transformer, even the Z4K, have never ever blown a TIU fuse sense putting them in.  I do not trust the transformer breakers and the TIU fuse is a pain to change, especially when all you need do is cut the power and reset the Scott 10 Amp breaker, by pushing it back down into place.  Seems the Z-1000 breakers are a might slow sometimes, especially as the Z-1000 ages.  However it seems to vary on every individual Z-1000, some are sensitive and others seem to break way to late, IMO if you want to eliminate all TIU blown fuse problems, use the Scott type 10 Amp breaker banks in front of the all the different power supplies.
