Fellas, I have always had trouble getting any of my tius to upgrade to the newer versions.  This time I am trying to go from 5.0 to 6.1 in  Rev L version that is new.  I reset the TIU and Remote first.  I have a connectr cable that is reading good.  I put the jumper cables in the TIU.  I downloaded the 6.1 files and the 5.0 downloader.  when I have the thing set to auto locate TIU, it searches and searches and nothing.  cant find it.  tried cyling power many times.  restarted the computer.  still nothing.    I am perplexed.  is there something I am doing wrong or a tip you guys can provide to assist me.   thanks!  chris

That was OK, however, it was not necessary.

Make sure that:

  • You must follow the onscreen instructions exactly. Be aware that if you have a Rev. L TRIU connected to the PC via the. TIU's USB port, when you cycle TIU power part of that process is to disconnect the USB cable.
  • Make sure that he 1/8" jumper cable is stereo. Mono won't work.

Do you have a serial port on your pc or are you using a serial to usb adapter?

Have you successfully used this serial cable before to update? If not double check it's a standard straight through serial cable because if it's null modem or other type it won't work.

Really since your TIU is rev L the straight USB is the easiest.

Hi are u using windows or apple computer ? either way you have to have downloads the serial driver for the computer to recognize the usb port otherwise it will never connect. I repair computers and sell them! in case you don't know how to download the serial driver I will attach it to this forum message ok!  copy or download this file and execute the file when done reboot your computer then when you run loader it will find your TIU ok!

Alan p. s. let us know how you made out!
