I would like to start modeling lines that ran through town on front street ( engines and freight cars ) but can't find much.

The book "The Southern Pacific in Oregon" by Ed Austin and Tom Dill has some pics and maps of street operation in Salem, I think. Years ago, I believe Oregon Electric and SP both had street trackage there.

 

You can still see street operation in Albany Oregon on former Oregon Electric, just 25 miles south of Salem. Closer to town is less residential.
