I have windows 10 and a 64 bit laptop.  I downloaded both 5.0 and 6.0 to laptop but they won't open.  Anybody else have this problem?  Is there some trick that I need to know with windows 10 to open apps.  Deleted files twice and reloaded.  Downloaded winzip although I believe I had before.  Don't know where to go from here.

Thanks

Step 1 is to get the Loader Program on your computer, and running.  The latest version is 5.0.  Note that this is NOT version 5.0 of DCS, despite the coincidence of numbers.  The program should run even if you haven't downloaded any DCS software.  First get the Loader program running and then come back with the result.  Loader program loads just like any other program.

Art,

The process is as follows:

  • Download. DCS Loader program 5.0
  • Download DCS 6.0
  • Both of the above are archives. If Windows doesn't unarchive them, double-click on each to reveal the Loader Program Installer and two DCS upgrade files, one each for the TIU and the remote.
  • Double-click on the Loader Program Installer to install the Loader Program.
  • Double-click on the installed Loader Program to run it.
  • Follow the instructions from MTH or, even better, those in the DCS Companion 3rd Edition, to do the TIU and remote upgrades.

DCS Book CoverThis and a whole lot more is all in “The DCS Companion 3rd Edition!"

This book is available from many fine OGR advertisers and forum sponsors, or as an eBook or a printed book at MTH's web store!
