Hello all ... Daylight were and are popular models to run and build . Lobaugh built and ran a Daylight on the SP layout at the SF fair or 1939 . Postwar (1947-50) at least 3 models of the GS4 were running on layouts on the west coast . This example has Lobaugh drive and drivers, cast frame , heavy brass boiler , and cast shroud ... some miss guided soul replaced the open frame motor with a can ......found in a Bay Area collection dating back to the late 40's / early 50's. Engine is big ...but not quite 17/64ths .... here pulling Exacta cars ...which are 17/64ths ...appearing big for the engine ... the last photo shows a Bill Johnson SP coach from the early 50's ..in 1/4" ...which looks like a better marriage .
The Exacta cars are molded copper .... available in 1/4" and 17/64ths.. from late 40s' ..paint job on cars ..gets an E for effort ... ..... will be searching for more Johnson cars for the engine to pull ...
Northern's are none too happy with my 48" radius .... but run ..even if pushing the limit of tight turns
