The legendary #4014 has returned after a few weeks in Alex M's repair shop!

She was a bit of a mess, here's what Alex fixed/repaired for me:

  • Smoke units - rebuilt/ re-wicked
  • Operating Coal load - repaired
  • Rear middle LED market light - replaced and fixed

It's back to the mainline now!  Alex - always a pleasure my friend, thank you.

My buddy Diego loves posing for pictures - he somehow gets his paws in all my photographs!

Have a great weekend guys!

Jim:

That's a nice scene.  Where did you get the figures, particularly the pitcher?

I've been looking for one for a while of a boy throwing a rock, but your pitcher looks like he can be adapted to the task.

Thanks.

GREAT looking layout Pennsy484,  like it alot, would you have a track plan available?

Thank you Brian!  Here's what I have from my track plans.  This was done back in 2010 on RR tracks, using MTH scale trax sectional track.  Things changed slightly from this as far as the yards, etc., I added some hidden storage tracks, and I did some easements with flex track to soften the turns on the front of the top track, and did some flex track in other places as well to smooth out some curves.

It is three independent loops, all connected.  072 min except in the storage tracks and one 054 turnout in the engine yard (again, note that the yards and storage tracks are no longer accurately represented in the plans below), I split the grades and probably max grade is a bit over 4%, Legacy and DCS.  I use DCS routes with a couple AIUs, such as what I call clockwise to counterclockwise, counter to clock, clock-bottom-counter, counter-bottom-clock, up down up, etc.  I have three trains parked off the line (coal train hidden behind breaker, passenger train hidden behind mountain, and freight train hidden underneath on right side).  What I usually do is take one at a time out and do several runs in different directions on each loop.  Can also run three at a time.   When I'm done, the trains are parked and the line is clear so I can do whatever the next session.

Its a lot of track when looking at just the plan!  Friends of mine have confided that they thought it would not be possible to scenic it well.  There are always compromises, but I am pretty happy with it considering the size of the room (13 by 17ish).
