Prewar Flyer 3/16" scale O gauge die cast consist. Locomotive is an Industrial Rail Atlantic. Hopper is the 1946 die cast hopper, which is the same as the prewar die cast car except for trucks. Stock car is a relettered S car with O trucks. Flat car is an S car with O trucks and an adapter coupler.
The Atlantic has no problem with pulling 5 die cast cars (1 pound each) on my layout.
On dreary Winter afternoons, I go downstairs and amuse myself with my trains and layouts. Lately, I've lubricated several of the older PS1 locomotives that I run most often, including New Haven Railroad EP-5 #371 today. Afterwards, I let it run for a while...

My Toymaker Santa Express is doing some track maintenance cleaning with two Lionel cars I received as gifts in tow: a B&M welding car and a Tootsie Roll single dome tank car. After a months worth of trains circling the tree, the track needed some maintenance.
Lionel 784 Hudson with a misbehaving E unit and a custom Vanderbilt tender. Runs fine, except that you can't lock the engine into one direction.
Fired up our Lionel Milwaukee Road Legacy 4-8-4 S-3 Northern #261 and had it pull our Christmas layout consist.
Also ran MTH Illinois Central 0-6-0 USRA Steam Switcher (30-1268-1)
Not today, (I’m out of town), but a few years ago. Going to run her at the club this weekend.
Rock Island Rocket. Marx E7 A-B diesels and K-Line cars. The Marx diesels are better proportioned to the cars than either Lionel's or K-Line's Alcos.
I remember back in the early 1960's, my father took me to the Southern yards in Princeton, Indiana. He pointed out an NW-2 switcher and said "We call those butt head engines." Now I have a butt head engine.

Your railroad and trains are terrific. Please take some photographs, write an article about the layout and what you have done to build it, and email to Allan Miller, editor of OGR Magazine. I know you are continuing to work on the layout, but there is more than enough to include in an article right now.

Grandkids ran trains all day

I ran Long Island Raid Road Alco RS-3 #1553 with three MTH Premier heavyweight steel passenger cars including #2000 “Montauk,” a parlor car. The locomotive is an old K-Line model with a sound system that needs 10-volts track power to play. So, at just above 10 volts, the train is running pretty quickly – at 50 scale miles-per-hour – but I guess that’s prototypical. Everything – including trains – moves fast on Long Island.

To moderate the speed a bit, If it has 2 can motors, wire the two motors in series this will moderate speed to a more reasonable level
Late last night, I went downstairs to my train room and noticed that more trains than usual on my 12'-by-8' layout were Long Island Rail Road - my local railroad as a youngster. So, I took photos of the LIRR equipment, including LIRR G-5s 4-6-0 #21, LIRR Alco RS-3 #1553, LIRR GP-38 #277, and parlor cars Jamaica and Montauk #2000.

It's the last run of The Polar Express for this season running along side a SP Mogul pulling some freight. PE goes back in the box tonight until the next Holiday Season. Happy New Year!!!
Boston & Albany D-1a 4-6-6T “tank engine” (K-Line K3470-0403CC) and New York Central U-3a 0-8-0 steam switcher #415 (MTH 30-1123-1) have been running on my 12’-by-8’ layout.

This morning after tidying the basement work area I ran three trains. First, a K-line scale K4s pulling a fast mail train, two PRR X29s, a PRR B60, a ggd PRR BM70, a ggd B70 baggage añd Lionel PRR passenger coach. Second, a Lionel early scale tmcc model M1a pulling nine mixed freights and b6 cabin car. Third, eight mixed freight, N5C cabin car, my track cleaner car behind an MTH scale PRR decapod with ERR upgrade. All locos have 4 chuffs, fun to watch and hear on a cold sunny day. Cheers

Received my Harry Heike custom painted Atlas heavyweights in New Haven livery back in December (a Mr Muffin offering). Running them for the first time behind a Lionel New Haven "R2a" over the "triple crossing" in Millville MA. The prototype crossing was to be the Providence and Worcester on the bottom, New Haven Midland div in the middle and the Southern New England (or the old Grand Trunk as it was known locally) on top. All crossing the Blackstone River. It was never quite to be as the Southern New England was graded but track was never laid. I have to yet to do any scenery here or add the SNE embankments/abutments...someday. The milk car is on the point since the Lionel coupler wont mate with the Atlas couplers. But it is prototypical since the NH delivered milk from Portland ME (via the B&M interchange in Worcester MA) to the Hood Dairy in Providence RI.
We put away the Department 56 buildings yesterday, but the Christmas table is still up. Might as well make use of it. That's a prewar no. 1666 with a custom-lettered no. 2466T tender, followed by a no. 6464-475 Boston & Maine box car. The "animule" is an Alces alces, of course.
I missed FeF yesterday, so here's some trains running this morning on a cool, cloudy, breezy, Pacific storm a comin' in a few hours day!
Running the California Zephyr with WP F7 ABA power and a small SP freight pulled by my favorite 2-6-0 mogul.

I ran these trains yesterday as I was organizing my train room. Reading Train Master with 3 passenger cars, a trolley on the elevated line, a B&O Docksider running lite on the Mountain Division which the red/white bridge carries.

A New Haven I-5 heads stainless consist toward New Haven as a New Haven Mountain type arrives in Scranton.

Now that’s my idea of an outstanding day; a time to be treasured.
Not today; but the snow on the ground brought me back to 2004 in Brooklyn. Snow affected my outdoor layout. Needed plenty of power to push the plow and get the Santa train through.
